Hi i just want to let everybody know that its not always male pattern baldness. ive been experiencing hair shedding since july 2017. and ive browsed this forum ever since then. this forum mad eme believe that i have male pattern baldness. ive wemt to a dermatologist wo said it was Telogen Effluvium and that i should just wait it out. after 2 months the shedding still continued and finally went to a hair doctor. she ordered some tests and i found out that i had hypothyroidism. im now being treated with levothyroxine. ive been taking the med for 1 month now although the shedding still hasnt stopped. but it gave me hope that when my hormones are balanced out. everything will go back to normal.

*prayers please*

Hypothyroidism increases DHT levels?

Any good source?

Why?

-More insulin = less SHBG. Less SHBG = more (bioavailable) DHT. Eating too much sugar can effectively increase DHT, which can lead to accelerated hair loss. Men with insulin resistance are more likely to be bald.

-Sugar also causes chronic inflammation in the scalp, making it itchy & red. Glycation is the damage and inflammation that can result from too much processed sugary foods.

-Nutritional shock Blood sugar spikes can coincide with extremely high (or low) levels of glucose, testosterone, and numerous other hormones. These changes affect the content of your blood, which is what delivers nutrients to your hair follicles. A sudden sugar shock forces the hair to try to make sense of what’s happening in order to resume the hair growth cycle.

healthier diet exercise & vitamins can delay the balding process rather than accelerate it. it'll happen anyways but at least not as bad =D
losing half your hair in a year vs over several yrs

I see. That all makes sense.
Are there any other foods/drinks/parts of common diets that are also worth avoiding or perhaps consuming more of related to hair?

How low T increases DHT
Hyperthyroidism doesnt lower your T

Exceeding sugar in your diet for sure will make hairloss worse, since overdosing sugar results candida overgrowth like i had for 5 years.

I limited sugar in 90% to minimum. Feels great nowadays

Well, I sleep better, i feel better. Dopamine somehow increased, i've been tested on candida overgrowth and test became + with medium/large score. Now the score is much much lower, but to kill candida completely you need about 1/2 years, i saw improvement next week after i deleted sugar from diet. But hey, feels great no issues anymore.

If you have oral candida, probiotics should be used to support a more beneficial ecosystem and why did not your physician or dentist prescribe Mycelex troche (there are a couple others) for treatment? That usually ends it in a couple weeks.
