Itchy scalp due to minoxidil and how to solve it

Hello everyone,

I started minoxidil 5% ~4 months ago and started experiencing itchy scalp pretty fast but it has gotten worse for some time now. It is really becoming annoying but i don't want to stop using minoxidil so what can i do to stop the itchiness without stoping it ? Should i use the foam version instead ? (although i heard it is less efficient than the liquid one). Or some kind of shampoo/creme that could help me with that ?
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Which brand? I used kirkland liquid and I didn't experience any itch at all, try to remove the left over residue with a cold shower on the scalp.

This won't likely help for many people and I am not advocating it will, but on a wholly personal level, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplement pills made my scalp reddening/itch issues disappear. (Probably in conjunction with getting more used to minoxidil and applying it more carefully, though).

The brand name is "Sandoz". And yes a shower/shampoo works well to remove the itching but since i have to put the stuff on in the morning i can't really rely on that...

I had the same issue- Its most likely PG. Check if your brand has PG as an ingredient - try a no PG version (rogaine foam or minoxidilmax). note - Kirkland foam has PG in it.
