Itchy bumps on scalp

I posted here a while ago worried that I was at early stages of hairloss, and now I'm experiencing something different. On the right side of my head, I have three bumps that itch and are sometimes tender to the touch. I've did some googling and read everything from head lice to bacterial infection. Also, I got a haircut about a week ago and noticed that the hair on one side of my head is noticably thinner, but the other side is normal. I have no idea what is going on and am thinking of seeing a doctor. But I was curious if anyone has ever had anything like this before. Here's a pic showing where the thinner hair is and the three bumps. Thanks again for the help.

EDIT: I should also add that I switched shampoo starting last Tuesday to Nioxin Cleanser for Fine Hair after I told my hairstylist back home that I thought my hair seemed thinner. I'd been using Head & Shoulders for years before that. I don't know if that has anything to do with the bumps or not.

Update: The itching is getting worse...I now have bumps in multiple areas that itch but are not sore. I've arranged a doctor appointment for Wednesday.

Does anyone know what is wrong with my scalp or why my hair is diffusely thinning in that one spot? Any suggestions?

Well, I went to the doctor on Wednesday and they gave me Nizoral? shampoo to use once a week to help the itching. I have an appointment with a dermatologist for next Thursday since they couldn't really determine what was wrong at the med center. I'm starting to think it was that Nioxin shampoo, because I have stopped using it over the last couple days and have noticed that my head doesn't itch nearly as much as it did. But I don't understand why shampoo would cause bumps that itch.

What else is in your regimen?

As for the Nioxin, it could very well be that causing the problem. Not that there is anything wrong with Nioxin as a whole, there could just simply be something in there you are alergic to.

Some people just have a sensitive scalp. If I use Nizoral or Jason's thin to thick too much my scalp itches and burns. But if I am careful and limit usage, I am fine.

I don't have a regimen...I just use regular Head & Shoulders shampoo and now this other stuff once a week to control the itching.

To update, the itching is nearly gone, but I'm still going to the dermatologist on Thursday because I have a mole on my head that I need to get looked at. I'm also going to ask about the hair on the sides and why it seems a little thinner.
