Started taking propecia about 3 weeks ago when my entire scalp started to itch more. Also started using Nizoral. Anyways, don't experience much scalp itch, except for the front right side of my hair line.Lots of itching and discomfort, and I am noticeably losing more hair from that area.

Any thoughts about this? Anyone else experience this? Should I hop on minoxidil now just for that spot?

hey i feel the same itch at the exact same spot, i lose more hair at the same spot as well while on propecia ( 1 .5 months into it)

What does this indicates? the hairloss at that spot can't be stopped by using propecia ?

i definitely notice more shedding after using propecia , but why the same spot keep losing hair even after i started propecia and i lose more than before . i am getting a lil worried about whether the finasteride i am taking is genuine or not . i bought it off a pharmacy and the packaging matches the one i saw online . the pill looks exactly the same as well.

I got my propecia from Albertsons Pharmacy, so I think I'm ok. But I had more itching in that area before.

I tried doing a pre-wash with Nioxin shampoo (for a minute) then a 3 minute wash with Nizoral, and then followed it up with Nioxin conditioner. Hair still fell out, but it didn't itch as much throughout the day. I did the same thing today, some result (however I notice less itching throughout the week, and then it gets bad on Monday. I'm like 50% sure it's related to stress).

Anyone have any insight for us?

The itching is inflammation that was initiated by your immume system. This is why I advocate sharply increasing omega-3 fatty acid intake, and reducing omega-6 intake, because most people have a horrible omega-3:eek:mega-6 ratio that increases inflammation, and decreases the body's ability to stop the inflammation. This means not only increased hair loss, but also chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, alzheimer's, heart disease....Fish oil won't cure hair loss, but it will reduce inflammation if you use it correctly.

Very good point! I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

But, why just in the one general area?

I mean I have diffuse thinning, so it's all getting thinner, but it's much more so on the right front side. Very irritating.

Foods with the worst omega-6:eek:mega-3 ratio are non-lean meat, eggs, dairy, and any grain products, so reduce the consumption of those.

Foods that are good sources of omega-3s are primarily salmon, tuna, and other seafood. One serving of salmon has a couple of grams of omega-3s, while one serving of tuna has about 300 milligrams. Seafood has EPA and DHA, two important omega-3 fatty acids.

Plant sources of omega-3s are soy, flax, and walnuts, and also canola oil. These contain alpha-linolenic acid, the third important omega-3 fatty acid.

Buy some Omega-3 fish oil capsules at the supermarket and take them every day with your multivitamin or with your proscar.
