Noticed the itch sometime after realizing i was losing my hair..perhaps it was down to the fact I started paying really close attention to my scalp...and have heard that finasteride usually stops the itch.

For me it hasn't and I've still got the itch. Does that mean I should try a different approach (dutasteride?)

I have been on .5 mg of finasteride for 6 weeks then upped it to 1mg for another 6 weeks. So 3 months in total. I know that isn't a long time but most people seem to say the itch went within a few days. I haven't seen any change in shedding and tbh my hair does feel a little more dry/straw like (could be down to the dry winter months)

It's mostly my crown that feels irritated and it's worse in the morning, after eating food (especially something sugary) and when wearing a hat.

Yeah keep on it but monitor your hair carefully, take pictures every month.

Monty in my opinion it is worth it to still use the copper peptides, I hate the itch it is a constant reminder that you are going bald, it sucks. Also if your itch has stopped it could mean that you are slowing your hair loss, you could be in a worse state if you never started the copper peptides.
