Pretty new around here... Trying to get a feel for all of this.
I had a question in regards to multiple posts in regards to scalp itch.

Does the Itch occur all the time with male pattern baldness or are you guys Itching because of the drugs??

I am not on anything yet, just reading and coming to a conclusion. I have been going down hill for the last 10 years. I have read you guys saying theses drugs work best when you catch it from day 1. Still thinking about it all.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

The itch can come both from the condition of male pattern baldness and from the use of the treatments. The itch and tingling and inflammation that comes from male pattern baldness is a result of the hormonal and sebum related changes going on in the scalp. Itch can also come from use of DHT inhibitors like Propecia, which can dry out the skin and cause similar changes. Its difficult to describe. Itch can also come from basic things like the concept of putting anything on your scalp that can irritate it. Minoxidil (Rogaine) can do this, as well as some products that contain azelaic acid. This type of itch is just simply your standard irritation.
