i have had a itchy dry scalp since very young ( about 13 ) started to see temporal reccecion at 16 i am now 20 and has slightly got worse however.... i have always had this serve itch but got slightly worse 4 months ago i am a Norwood 2.5

How would i distinguish the balding itch from a regular very bad dry itchy scalp???? And surly itching my scalp all day would cause a lot of hair to fall out more than usual ?

Also how do you distinguish miniaturised hair on the frontal hair line from that of what you start to see of Propecia ??

The best thing to do IMO with male pattern baldness is dont over complicate it. If your male its overwhelmingly male pattern baldness. Dont try to link male pattern baldness and itching or whatever else. Do you see physical miniaturized tiny hairs or bald spots? if yes then its male pattern baldness so treat that. If your head is itchy they try some shampoos or whatever and treat it as common dandruff. So just two separate issues.
Maybe itching your scalp causes hair loss, but does itching your face or your chest cause body hair loss? Body hair can be literally ripped out, and it just grows back. That is what head hair should be like if you dont have male pattern baldness. Nothing really would alter it short of like a major scar or something

Thanks for the advice, would you know how to spot miniaturised hair, from hair popping up from Propecia ?

Balding itch is a stupid myth like wanking causing your hair to fall out.

IMO any uncomfortable itching is not good for the hair. Think of it this way. Your scalp is the soil, if the soil is bad will the plants (hair) grow to their full potential?

Find out what is causing your scalp inflammation. You may need to see a derm or two. There are many issues that can cause it like: dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, not washing enough/correctly and letting oil/sebum build up, etc. Even anxiety and lack of sleep make my scalp itch.

You could also try rotating a few shampoos to see if they help. Ones like nizoral, tgel, tsal, etc.
