Hi all,
Right ive been going on about this itch for ages now but i feel i must being doing something wrong, causes it still itches pretty bad. The areas where its worse i seem to be losing more hair.

At the moment i wash my hair in the morning with Paul Mitchell, Shampoo 3 then at night i use Tricomin Shampoo and conditioner and then use the spray straight after.

When im apply the spray i think i use to much cause my hairs really damp. I think im getting it onto my scalp but it seems to be mostly in my hair. Im going t try the dropper as soon as, but i dont think it ll make a difference to the itch, i just think it'll stop me using as much.

Another thing i noticed is that some night s i seem to get the Spray onto my ears and now there all itchy and sore. I was thinking about bying the folligen cream cause i think there would be more of a chance of that getting to the scalp.

Ive also got Inflamil in the post, cause im thinking this may be due to inflamation also.

What do you all think. Need advice big time?????

Cheers

Kev - maybe try washing your hair only 1x per day instead of 2 x?

Ye i was thinking that. Its just i try washing my hair because i use a bit of wax and i think the spray might not work if i dont wash it.

I don't know?

I disagree, proper direct contact to the scalp could make a difference.

After that, you may need to go to a doctor and look into some sort of steroid topical.

I noticed that when I blow dry my hair my scalp tends to feel a little tight/itchy... towell drying should be done.

Cassin, your gif avatar isn't a precursor to the new awesome film by Spielberg debuting at the end of this month is it? I'm throughly convinced that it's going to be bigger and waaaaay better than Lucas' sad contribution recently:( GRRRRRRR!

Regarding washing your hair so often, I'm in agreement with backing off washing it so often. It's simple I know but always makes sense...too much of a good thing might not be too good:(

If the doctor prescribes me a topical cream for my scalp. Will this affect my regimen or cause more hair loss. Ive been putting the excessive hair loss at the back of my head to the scalp itch, but now im not sure. What do you all think??

Thanks

Is Scalpicin drops good for controlling itch? There are 2 versions at the drug store I work at:

- Salicylic Acid 3%

&

- Hydrocortisone formula.

I suppose I'm going to try the latter as I've got enough Sal Acid going on with my T/Sal usage.

Just away to get the ointment tommorrow. Hope it solves my problem. Do you think this itch will be contributing to my increased loss? Really starting to get down, on finasteride but since my car crash in january ive lost heaps of hair at the back.

Does finasteride work best on the top/back of the head??

Thanks

Does anyone know how to get an ointment to the scalp instead of the hair without shaving my head??

whenever i get flare ups from retin-a and my scalp starts shredding i notice alot of shedding--what i do is i just put some regular over the counter hydrocortisone 1% on and it takes care of the irritation and the hair loss goes away without any noticeable cosmetic difference...id just put it on over my hair before i went to bed and then wash it out the next day when you shower--no matter what people say here i think hydrocortisone is like a miracle drug--it has anti-inflammatory properties which is good for male pattern baldness and it will make your redness and flaking disappear over night so you wont have to use it all the time and if you rub it in well and let it dry and then apply your minoxidil it will enhance the absorption of the minoxidil which is definitely a cheaper and less harsh alternative to retin-a--but id only do that at night--unless you wanna walk around with hydrocortisone gluing your hair on your scalp lol

heres some more food for thought: im probably not completely accurate in my statement but i can only speak through my own personal observations--i often find the initial and periodic irritation from minoxidil causes much of the shedding--an irritated, flakey scalp isnt a great environment for hair (re)growth...but ofcourse your scalp eventually adapts to it and then gets bothered by it from time to time...i know minoxidil affects your growth cycle, but i honestly think if it wasnt in as irritating formula as it is, we all would have less shedding...but if yours contains retin-a as well sometimes it can really,REALLY burn your scalp(like in this freakin hot summer) and you just need to put the hydrocortisone on for a night or two and then go back to using the minoxidil/retin-a unless you wanna flip out over tons of hair falling out and do more harm than good from its irritating properties..sometimes it IS good to lay off your treatments for a couple days, it gives your scalp alittle time to breath and probably offsets the greater probability of minoxidil tolerance--id bet you guys 5 bucks(im broke and i dont wanna hold myself too religiously to this statement lol) that you probably dont need to use minoxidil everyday 2X a day for it to work, just almost everyday 2x a day..like u can take 3 days to a week off every month and be okay..especially after month 4..in the past i still had good results doing that..the medicines DO work but i often think that the irritation they cause can be partially responsible for dramatic fallout at times..i mean lets face it...nizoral is a harsh shampoo, minoxidil is irritating and retin-a is even more irritating--using nizoral or t sal or whatever a couple times a week and minoxidil everyday can be overkill..i bet its not that uncommon in your fifth month of constant use of the products that you have a sore scalp and find your hairs falling out quite a bit--not because the meds arent doing their thing, just because your scalp needs a break--and hydrocortisone cream is, in my own experience, the best remedy to get rid of sebhorrea and flaking and eczema and overall inflammation---generic hysrocortisone cream for a buck something did more for me in my bad dandruff days than head and shoulders ever did--the only minus is you ave to stay in while its on your head--otherwise your already thinning hair will look worse from the crap on your head---not to mention its very noticeable and well weird looking lol...another thing--hydrocortisone in less than hour will make your redness and itching go away like it was never there..but if its really serious maybe after 2 or 3 times of using it , the irritation will be completely gone...as we speak.. i have it on my extremely irritated, shedding scalp..ive doen this before..by tomorrow when i wake up ill have no redness or shedding..and you dont need to get any particular treatment for the scalp--generic hydrocortisone creme is cheaper and will do just as well--peace
