So I have been on finasteride just a little over six months and the past two nights the itch I had on my crown area that drove me nuts before has come back but not as strong. Should I be worried or just keep on going and not give it too much thought. I think I should also look at these two things

1. Haven't been getting decent rest the past few nights

2. Showering with hot water

Yep nizoral 1% (my scalp does not handle 2% that well) once every three days although I am thinking of using T-gel shampoo tonight.

No minoxidil yet, just propecia 1 mg and 1% nizoral although after the shed I have been going through this week which has hit my hairline bad it makes me want to use it.

I really don't understand why taking a shower with hot water is supposedly bad?
its not. people just blame everything for being a contributing factor to their hair loss.
what their doing is wasting what could be a relaxing warm shower in the winter and forcing themselves to freeze.

Even before hairloss my scalp was all flaky and dried out when I used hot water. Some people have sensitive skin, where did I say I blamed that for my hair loss?

Hot water strips the scalp of it's essential oils. The hair doesn't get it's vital nutrients and therefore will dry out and look dull. Technically it will not cause hair loss , but will make your hair look worse.

When you wash dishes you use hot water because it strips the dishes of grime and oils. You are basically doing the same thing to you're scalp when you use hot water. You don't want your scalp to be squeaky clean , same goes for your face and the rest of your body because it will dry it out causing it to age faster.

Warm water is the way to go. A lot of shampoos and oils are manufactured to work with warm water and it's more comfortable then cold water. Best thing to do when it comes to showers is to:

Spend as little time in there as possible.
Use luke warm water.
Use gentle shampoo and a great conditioner.
Don't shower too often.

Also when you get out of the shower use a deep moisturizing cream all over your body to tackle the moisture lost during the shower.

For inflammation of the scalp you could get Clobex shampoo and use it twice a week. You'll need a perscription though.

Itch came back again not as terrible. The thing I noticed is how the itch seem to correlate with my nasty shed which is hard not to think that my propecia is not genuine or my hairloss is just getting agressive. :thumbdown2:

Another thing is my scalp isn't so much oily but instead just dry, pink, and itchy.
