Is this theory plausible?

Hey guys

So i started minoxidil in febuary on my crown and the right side of my hairline for experiment purposes (Crown needed it, hairline did not) and my hairline on the side i've been using minoxidil on has gone from a 1 to a 2 possibly 2.5. Now while im in no doubt minoxidil played a part in this I'm trying to think of the reason as to why, Obvious male pattern baldness was hitting my crown but my hairline seemed to be untouched and the side that i wasn't applying minoxidil is still perfect. So here's my theory, male pattern baldness had started but I'm balding from the crown and because I was applying minoxidil to that one side of my hairline it was getting more blood therefore more DHT and since i wasn't taking a DHT inhibitor until this week is the reason its gone back at least a norwood on that side.

Does this sound possible to you?

Haha wow that's an eye opener. Sounds plausible for sure but can't hold much weight because of the success of Minoxidil. I for one had 0 results when I was on Minoxidil alone. But even Dutasteride doesn't work for me so idk.

It is possible, but is very unlikely. Mild hair loss in the frontal can be controlled in some individuals with just Minoxidil, due to how mild they have male pattern baldness.

It's just the fact the other side is still perfect and that i've receeded and thinned only where i've applied the minoxidil that makes me think the minoxidil has sped up the process on my hairline. I'm in damage control mode there now, Hoping that finasteride+Min will bring the hair back.

Wow not even dutasteride?

Minoxidil naturally causes a shed because it restarts the hair growth cycle. The hair that was present when you started applying the minoxidil basically hurried out of its current cycle. But that's a really interesting idea about the increased blood flow. Are you on finasteride? How does dutasteride not work for you?

note that minoxidil does not work on hairline for some people, so maybe the loss of hair is a reaction to the chemical and won't grow back because it's non responsive i dunno

Yes not even dutasteride. If there was a treatment that even worked 99% of the time people would go crazy about it regardless of the side effect. finasteride and dutasteride are simply not good enough. dutasteride, despite blocking 90% of serum DHT only manages to block 50% of scalp DHT from what I've read. But the whole time I've been on finasteride or dutasteride I've had no effects, positive nor negative. It's like I've never been on it.

Anyways coming to your theory, losing more hair on one side than the other is natural and it's happening with me too. The experiment isn't that accurate but the theory is worth the test. Sadly there's barely any info on male pattern baldness other than it's caused because of DHT.

Yeah I think it was sped up with minoxidil as the other side is fine and that's exactly where i was applying minoxidil when i started to a nw1 hairline.

Same happened to me. Big mistake to start minoxidil before finasteride... Are you going to keep using it while on finasteride?
