Is This Telogen Effluvium, male pattern baldness, Or Both?

Hey. I'm 20 years old, in the past 2 weeks mostly, I've been noticing my hair shedding a lot more than it ever has. About a month ago, or two months ago I would have practically no hair falling off my head.
In the beginning/mid of January, I went through an extremely stressful period emotionally, that lasted about two weeks (I truly do not say this lightly at all, it was one of the most ****ed up things you could probably go through), and almost exactly a month later my I've been losing a lot of hair. These hairs are usually about medium length, some shorter, about a half of them have the white keratin bulb at the bottom. Although my temples are thinning and receding, and my crown is starting to thin too.. there's also a lot of weird hairloss around the sides of my head that don't usually follow the male pattern baldness pattern. I don't want to be one of those people in denial of the fate of their hair and just say its stress, but based off my research this sounds like telogen effluvium. But I'm also scared that it might be male pattern baldness also. There's hardly any hairloss on my mothers side, but a lot on my fathers side. My father started losing his hair in his 30s. I have two older siblings: 22 and 24, who have no hairloss at the moment.

What would you guys recommend that I do?

Looks like you have diffuse thinning, you have to give it at least six months to see what the situation is. A lot of people (me included) seem to have a sudden bout of hair loss in their early 20's and the a slow onset. You may have Telogen Effluvium but unless you have had an extremely stressful situation recently it is unlikely, you may be lucky though.

It sounds like telogen effluvium however, you may be in the early stages of male pattern baldness if you have temple recession. If male pattern baldness is present then telogen effluvium will accelerate it.

Thank you guys for your input. I'm definitely uncertain, but very cautious. I want to wait a few months to see how it develops before I take anything like Finasteride, but at the same time if it is male pattern baldness I would like to take some precautions to slow it down until I can know for sure. Do you guys have any advice or recommendations?
Right now I'm thinking of using Castor Oil, & Miconozale and making some dietary changes to reduce inflammation. I've been doing a lot of research into PGD inhibitors, I'm not too sure what kind of supplements to take though. Just wondering what your advice might be, or what you might do in my position?

Thanks :)

Does Telogen effluvium not affect temples? Temple recession can also be a part of maturation of hairline, no?
It could be. I wish that for you. Unfortunately there is absolutely no way to tell. Only time will.
