Is this normal?

I started finasteride about 1.5 weeks ago.--I take 1mg everyday

Minoxi 2weeks ago. I apply it every other day.

Before treatment: started diffuse thinning, was very itchy the 3 days before starting treatment so I guess I started at the right time.

Itch reduced and almost went away completely.

Now: as in past couple days, itching slightly not too much. Shedding hair a lot more than I ever have. I comb my hair in the morning and like 10 hairs fall out in a matter of 20seconds.

I just started barely 2 weeks ago. Is this normal or whAt?

Did you get checked out for your thyroid? I remember the last thread you made.

It's normal increased shed, from finasteride or minoxidil or both. Does minoxidil EOD work? I'd ****ing love to do that if it does. My finasteride shed kicked in after the 3 week mark, once I noticed that I said screw it and added minoxidil.

Not yet. But I did make an appointment for this week on Thursday for the thyroid.

What you mean minoxi EOD?

I know shedding is normal but this quick??

I barely started 2 weeks ago.

I'm just praying it means I'm a quick responder or something.

My dad and grandfather don't suffer from male pattern baldness

My dad has thick hair and gramps just has thin hair but no bald spots

EOD = Every other day. You said you apply minoxidil every other day and if you do get results please post.

I don't think there is a definitive timeline on when individuals experience the finasteride shed most commonly its within the first 3 months I believe. Others experience no shed till later. Some shed all the way till a certain point and completely stop. Im just assuming it reacts differently for everybody.

If you have male pattern baldness your going in the right direction, if its a thyroid problem your going in the wrong direction.

okay i'll definitely let you know.

i must admit though, some days i forget/don't have time.

you might be thinking "oh this guy isn't disciplined to apply it once a day"

trust me man, the things im doing these days/career path im trying to take, i literally dont have any time of the day.

with that being said, i want to know:

if i take minoxi and finasteride, does finasteride keep the minoxi gains even after i stop using minoxi?

and alright, im just praying that im a good resonder to the treatment because of this extremely quick shedding.

does shedding happen all the time on finasteride? like does my body not adjust to finasteride after a first couple shedding and then it stops shedding?

and what do you mean if i have a thyroid problem im going in the wrong direction?--tbh, my thyroid was just suppressed, chances are it's back to normal now. i feel really great functional wise, and i dont even have sides from finasteride as of yet. sex drive is through the rough, i work out great and everything.

Unsure of how minoxidil and finasteride work together, but I hear this a lot minoxidil hairs are dependent on minoxidil. So stopping it you might lose the gains even if you continue with finasteride (unsure someone with more experience will probably give a better answer). Shedding happens in the majority of cases and is usually a good sign that you are responding to the meds. Just my own advice stay off the minoxidil and see what you can get with finasteride then add in minoxidil if you want more improvment.

I remember your thread saying you took some meds that messed with your thyroid to help you lose weight. Either way I think it's best to at least get a bloodwork done even if your thyroid recovered. You don't have to tell your doctor about your own dabbling in the thyroid supressor just ask for one. It's even said rapid weight loss can cause hair loss (true or not I don't know).

My advice

Get your bloodwork
Stay on finasteride in the meantime
Ride the shed out

minoxidil EOD up to you unsure if it works or not, but I am curious.

Okay sounds good. I'll get the blood work done.

And your right, I should just take finasteride first only.

Btw I have quite a bit of body hair.

From what Ive read, body hair= higher levels of dht,

Im in my early twenties, I am already balding and my dht level will only go up and follicles become more fragile to dht as I age.

Does this mean I should probably be looking forward to increasing finasteride dosage in the future? Or that finasteride will not work as long for me as other people and I'll have to switch to dutasteride quicker?

Sorry for all these weird random specific questions, I just want to be as clear as possible

Increasing finasteride will do nothing, add dutasteride. After that add ru. After that do stronger minoxidil. After that do even stronger minoxidil. After that add azealic acid. Just keep adding until a cure comes.

Don't know anything about body hair and dht levels.

Increasing finasteride beyond the 1mg won't be anymore beneficial then it is at 1mg. finasteride supposedly works indefinitely as long as you keep taking it. I'd say if it does stop working then add dutasteride, but don't think that far ahead yet because you may never get to that point.

Do you mean he won't get that far because finasteride is good or...

Because hell be full bald?

No because finasteride may work for him and he may never need to think about taking dutasteride.
