im 18 nearly 19 and i've been losing my hair since 16 i believe. it started to recede and remain thick but now has thined out all over aswell. anyway, the sides of my hair and i think the back slightly (im not sure about the back) have started thinning. he left side of my hair is gettin really thin and i was just wondering if this is normal for male pattern baldness or if this could point to another explination for my hairloss

my dad lost his hair early (around 20) and his oldman was also bald so male pattern baldness was allways goin to be likely

Some pics would be helpful but judging by the family history I'd say it does'nt look to good.

i havent got any way of taking uploading pictures. i know my situation's looking bleak and i'm planning to get on finasteride start of the new year

i was just wondering if thinning on the sides is normal for male pattern baldness because i heard before that the back and sides are unaffected

Well yes the sides can be affected also but obviously not to the same extent as the hair ontop.

If your hair is thinning and it runs in your family then it's probably male pattern baldness. Also Iron deficiency can be the cause for thinning hair so maybe you should get a blood test before starting any treatment.

Today there are ways to treat male pattern baldness, it's not like 25-30 years ago when your father was losing his hair.
