Ok guys Ill try to be quick, about a week ago I stated to notice that my hair felt kind of thin. This immediately got me worried and since then Ive been checking my hair daily to see if there are any new developments or if its just my imagination. Anyway, what Im starting to notice is that the hair in my right temple is significantly thinner but the rest of my hair is full and thick. As far as Im concerned, correct me if Im wong, hair loss due to male pattern baldness should be uniform. Well I know I have genetics against me because both of my brothers went bald around their early 20's and my dad is also bald but again what I find peculiar is that my hair only seems thinner on the right temple. Both my left temple and my crown are still thick and full, also my hairline does not seem to be receding. Any suggestions or guesses of what this might be? I already made an appointment to get a proffesional opinion but hearing what you guys have to say wouldnt hurt. Thanks in advance for any reply. By the way Im 22 years old in case thats helpfull.

Could be due to your brothers, and it's not unusual for one temple to start before the other. But also bare in mind it can be normal for temples to be thinner than the rest of your hair (You will commonly see this on women and children if you look, obviously not suffering from male pattern baldness), it can also be normal (and very common) for hair to receed a bit at the temples without going bald ('Mature hairline').

male pattern baldness is not at all soley uniform. In fact many men start to lose one side before the other, myself included. I've came accross many people who made the same observation on here as well.

For me, my right side is noticeably worse than the other side. I've been on finasteride for two months now and I'm seeing significantly more baby hairs growing in on the bad side which I'm totaly stoked about since I would be happy to have that side catch back up and hold ground right there.

This next part maybe completely untrue and just an urban legend, but I've heard somewhere that If you're right handed you will loose that side first/faster which turned out to be true for me since I'm right handed.

Hope this helped.

Ok thanks for replying, Ive been kind of busy with finals and everything so haven't had the time to post a follow up. Anyway, about a week ago I went to the dermatologist to see if I had male pattern baldness and he didnt even bother to come take a look at my head he just said that currently at my point there wasnt anything he could do to determine if it was male pattern baldness or not. He simply told me what options were available just in case. Ok I know that my case is not that noticeable but I do feel my hair less dense and my crown looks kind of fuzzy. In any case I just want a diagnosis be it either male pattern baldness, Telogen Effluvium or even hypochondriac jeje, just to feel at ease or in the worst case scenario start taking control of the situation early.
In any case I just wanted to know if there are any specific test that a dermatologist can perform in order to diagnose MBP just in case I go get a second opinion. Ive included some pics so you can see my current status and be the judge or if you have any advice for my situation. Sorry for the quality of some of the pics.

This was a coupple of weeks ago when I had my hair pretty long

I'm not seeing it, looks pretty good t me. Does your hair feel different, when you go to style it?>

Compared to the overall thickness of your hair, your crown looks like it's thinning. It's in the early stages and one cannot predict at what speed it will progress.

Good news is that your type of hairloss (starting at the crown, no visible recession at the hairline and very thick hair on the sides) responds very well to medicines. Take a look into the succes threads.

I'm not advocating use of medicines BTW, but I can't deny the succes some people have had with them.

Ok thanks for the prompt replies, the opinions were kind of mixed so now Im a little confused. Somehow in my last post my real question got lost jeje, anyway I was thinking of getting a second opinion from another dermatologist (the first one said there wasn't anyway to determine) and I wanted to know if there are any specific test they can run in order to give an accurate diagnosis.

Another question, when you start to lose your hair, is the shedding constant or does it occur intermittently? Im asking because this whole thing started during the month of October when I experienced some considerable shedding but after a week or so the shedding stopped and up until now the shedding has been very small and even unnoticeable.

Once again thanks for you help and any input will be appreciated.

I lost a lot of density on top of my head before I ever noticed one hair on my cushion or in my hands. When I started shedding I counted 40-100 hairs on my cushion every morning plus a lot in the shower and during the day.

Hairloss has many faces. It may halt for a while or progress slowly and then speed up all of a sudden.

There's no need to do anything dramatic now, like using medicines. If the crown bothers you (nobody else will notice), you can use a concealer like Toppik. If the shedding is minimal I'd say give it a year and evaluate your hair situation again.

It's important for you to realize that at one day you will look back on this day and realize that you have wasted your time worrying about your hair when you should have enjoyed it to the maximum.

Well its been a while since Ive posted. About four months and I still dont know for sure if I have male pattern baldness. The last dermatologist I went to told me that he didnt have to check my head because he could tell from his chair that I wasnt suffering any symptoms. I followed his advice and I kind of didnt pay any attention to my hair until a couple of days ago and now Im confused. Here are a couple of picks you be the judge:
These are pictures of my hairline which Im not really that worried about
