is this enough?

hey guys i went today to my derm, im 20 yrs old and actually still have hair everywhere on my head except that my temples receded and my hair is starting to thin all over, but still cannot be noticed. my derm prescribed for me neoxidil 2% which he said is same as minoxidil, in addition to anaphase shampoo... when i asked him about propecia, he said he doesnt prescribe it because doctors arent sure of it ( 8 years still not enough to tell it's safe)and he said something that it might cause cancer !! i was surprised by this and he didnt want to prescribe propecia in no way.. he also started talkin about vioxx at merck and what they recently found about it... so let's say i only take what he prescribed.. minoxidil and anaphase shamppoo .. u think this is sufficient? thanks.

Try getting another opinion.

I would not go on minoxidil if your hair did not look that bad. I would try finasteride first for a year and see if it does the trick and use some good old Nizoral shampoo with it.

Finasteride must be one of the safest drugs you can take, your derm doesn't know his stuff, get a second opinion.
