My name is John, I'm a 22 year old male and I noticed something about my hairline sometime ago. It started when I noticed some hair damage that I mistook for telltale signs of a receding hairline (I had a bad habit of chewing on my hair and tearing it out and breaking it, so new hair was growing on one temple. Needless to say once I saw the damage I stopped, but that made me notice the shape of my hairline, and I became concerned when it wasn't straight, but my parents insisted my forehead hadn't changed, and I was too young for my hairline to recede in my family. I tried to go to old pictures but my forehead was always covered by bangs. I developed anxiety attacks due to this and began pulling on my hairline a lot, causing more damage. I saw a doctor and he saw no signs of male pattern baldness, and said that it looks like I just have a natural peak (lower hairline), but I looked up widows peak and mine seems to be significantly larger. I am unsure of whether or not it is a mature hairline or a natural peak. I also saw a dermatologist who said my hairline may be maturing, but that my hair density is very high and he seriously doubts I'd ever be bald. Truthfully I'm more worried about my crown in the future because that's where it started for my father, but this had me very concerned for a while but now I'm mostly just curious.
I'll share some family history: Baldness is present in my family, but no one is norwood 7 except for an uncle who's not blood related to me. My father is 56, developed a baldspot in his mid thirties, which is pretty sizeable by now but his hairline only began to recede recently within the past few years, and it seems to have halted for the time being at around a Norwood 2 1/2 to 3. He still has a good amount of hair that looks thick enough, especially in the front, although at age 56 it's just thinning due to age I would say. His father lost very little or none of his hair and he just recently died at 83. His hairline looked pretty strong and straight to me the last time I saw him alive. My father's brother also hasn't lost any of his hair and he's 50. On my mother's side I have one uncle who balded at the front but I'm not sure how bad it is in the back, but I know for sure he's not full blown norwood 7. My other uncle on that side had lots of hair last time I saw him, although it has been years, but even so he was at least in his mid fifties the last time I saw him. My mother's father I have only seen pictures of. In his 50's he had a receded, v shaped hairline, but it looked pretty strong and my mom said his hair began to thin pretty badly in his 70's when his health began to fail and he died at 72, but he never went bald. As far as I know, no one in my family at all is full blown bald.
