im not sure if i have a mature hairline or male pattern baldness and the three places ive been to, including a legit dermatologist said the only way to know is by waiting it out and see if it gets worse beyond the point of no return. They also took pictures of my hairline and told me to come back in a year. To me this is BS because in todays day and age there should be at least some kind of technology that tells if your balding or not. I was also going to get the Hair DX test done but its not being performed in my state yet and im not driving 3 hours to another state to get it done. is there any other way or am i out of luck?
Is there anyway to tell if you have male pattern baldness besides waiting???

Look for miniaturization or less density.

okay i definetly have some minitaurization on my left temple but its only out in front, i dont think its behind my hairline. i pointed this out to the guy at bosley and he said thats normal and its just my mature hairline forming. is that true or is any minitaurization a sign of male pattern baldness?

Does your dad have hairloss, what about your brother, uncle, grandfather, etc etc. If they do and you have any recession or thinning like you described then yes you have male pattern baldness. If it is slow or rapid it doesnt matter. No one knows the speed of progression will be but if you have family history of male pattern baldness and you start to notice your hair changing, i.e. less hair in a area than before, then you got male pattern baldness
i have minimal signs of male pattern baldness in my family. my dad is 55, has all his hair and even has a straighter hairline than mine, my mom is like 50 and has what looks like a receded hairline like mine but i think its just her mature one cause girls dont get male pattern baldness right?, my dads dad had all his hair when he was 80 except when he had kemo, my moms dad had all his hair wehn he died at 50 except a strong widows peak, and my my moms1 brother out of 2 is balding, and i think a couple more cousins on my moms side are balding as well.
