Hello! i am brian and i am facing the problem of Gynecomastia when i was only 12 yrs old and now i am 24. Actually i afraid so much from any type of surgery as i was told that there will be few incisions and pain during the surgery. Can any one have any suggestion regarding me. Your response will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! I feel your pain brother; I had gyno when I hit puberty as well. Surprisingly, a lot of young guys get it during puberty, but it usually goes away. Now that you are 24 and noticed it hasn’t gone away, there are still a number of things you can do.

First, I would get it diagnosed by an expert as either glandular, fatty, or a mixture of both. You might be able to do this yourself; you will usually feel a rubbery firm mass, usually located behind your nipple, and it might also radiate out concentrically. Most guys that have gyno (and are of normal weight) have some glandular tissue.

If it's glandular, and it's 'set in' (as in its existed for over a couple years) pretty much your only option is surgery, which will run you around $5000. You will want to go to an experienced plastic surgeon for this, since doctors just simply remove the gland if it's causing physical problems without considering the appearance afterwards.

If you are overweight, even slightly, there is a good chance that it can be improved by losing weight, unless it's purely glandular (in this case, might make it look worse).

As a chubby teenager, I had pretty bad gyno right up till I was 20. I lost a ton of weight (went from like 280 down to 170) and the gyno almost completely went away. There is still some glandular tissue that exists to this day, but it's a very small amount. FYI, 5 months on Finasteride hasn't exacerbated this at all.

About a year ago I got back up to around 210 pounds and I noticed it started coming back. I've since lost close to 20 pounds (down to 190) and it's gone away again. Some guys, unfortunately, need to keep their weight down to keep gyno at bay. For me, it seems to be one of the first places I gain fat on my body! It sucks, but it's a really good reason for me to keep in shape. Getting muscular, especially building up chest and back muscles helps me a lot. In fact, the slight gyno I have makes my chest look more 'pumped up' and I think it's a good look.

But yeah, depending on how bad it is and what type it is, surgery is pretty much your only option. Topical estrogen blockers will only help when the tissue is actually active and growing, but will likely not do anything if it's existed for years like yours likely has. But in most cases, exercise and keeping your weight down helps a lot.

Good luck man!

Andractim. If it can't remove it, only surgery will.

Oh god, and I wrote such a long post about man boobs.

Let's change the subjet to female boobs! What's your favorite cup size in a woman? I personally like full C! I am currently dating a girl with E size, which sounds good at first.. But honestly it's a bit too much.

Not exactly, she's a bit on the shorter side, maybe 5-10 pounds heavier than 'ideal' but I personally like girls a tiny bit on the heavy side. Just enough to add a bit of a better figure.. But not too much, you know! I much prefer this than to skinny girls..

It's frustrating though, because she has a hard time finding bras that fit. She usually has to order them online. Also, bathing suits are usually not supportive enough, so she has to special order those too! I guess most guys dont really think about how much of a pain in the *** it would be! But I enjoy them :)

She would literally break up with me if she saw this post, lol.

Hey Enden I did some research on andractim on the gynecomastia.org forums and the consensus pointed tO andractim not working. Do you have any evidence supporting it's effectiveness? Thanks for the help

Yeah, take a look in my thread - and you'll find a study. I've a lot of personal experience with it as well. You have to take care of the gynecomastia within a reasonable time. Breasts which a man developed during puberty for instance, is unlikely to be removed by Andractim. It took care of the lumps I had, after having them for one year.

Ya, I am sure it would do nothing for my lumps + fat accumulation that has occurred since I have been 13. I guess I am just lucky that I am quite muscular (5'10 205lbs 10-12 % body fat), so it looks like I just have large muscular pecs specially when it is cold so my nipples are hard.. The thing I find most annoying is my pecs would have a much nicer shape if I didnt have gyno, as the fat on my chest will never go away unless I go anorexic or get surgery.

Another question though, if I get gyno surgery post-op will I have to discontinue finasteride? Or can i still take finasteride, and if I get unlucky and begin to devolp gyno again can I just dicontinue and the gyno will go away?

One more question, I have been on 0.25mg finasteride daily. Lately I have been noticing my nipples a little more tender, before this was happening I was getting increasingly paranoid about my gyno increasing in size. I would think this side effect would be less prone to be psychosomatic then say erectile dysfunction, is this assumption true? Has anyone gotten Gyno from Propecia and what did it feel like?

It's not that easy. However, Andractim will help in that case.

The changes to the breasts, are as apparent as any changes to your erections. When gynecomastia begins to grow, it'll hurt, and you'll feel lumps under the skin. Typically, this will be around the nipples, and towards the armpits. Several people have developed gynecomastia from use of finasteride. I'm one of them.

Ii already have lumps under both of my nipples, they developed when I was 13 and never went away. I am just worried that finasteride may increase the size of these lumps

Yes, it may - but the new size is possible to reduce to the old size - so to speak. That window will be open for several months.

I remeber reading that this side effect (Gyno) will usually appear in the first month (I believe Rassman said this), I have now been on finasteride for 2 and a half months. It is possible that I am getting this side effect now, but it may be psychosomatic (as far as I can tell there has been no size increase yet, but my nipples are feeling itchy/a little more tender)

I really do no want my gyno to increase in size, because it is almost summer and I plan on having my shirt off all the time. I may stop finasteride just for the summer and start up again in september.

Gynecomastia is more likely to occur later on. It took 3 - 4 months in my case.
