I never worried about balding because on both sides of my family the men have thick hair well over middle age. Both of my older brothers also have thick hair, including the oldest who is 42.
I'm 28 and have thinning hair, started about 2 years ago.
If the source was something other than genetic would the pattern then be less typical? My hairline is going up and the crown is thinning. The sides and back still have full thickness.
The "why me" still bothers me though. My doctor confirmed my hair is thinning by taking a look but he could not tell me with certainty if the cause was genetic or something else. I'm now taking finesteride so if it gets any better I guess that will be a confirmation so lets see.
Then we have autoimmune disorders in the family and I have a low body temperature and other symptoms typical for a underactive thyroid so it make me wonder if the root might be something other than male pattern baldness.
Any thoughts?
