Is there a reason to use finasteride and dutasteride at the same time ?

Nope. My doctor told me specifically not to take them together but some out there will take finasteride ed and dutasteride once or twice a week. Not sure that they're getting any better results though.

The top post has a link to a study of one person who had benefits. It's tough to say how effective it is considering only one person was using this method. But it's better than some of the other random posts people follow on here.

I take both. Mainly out of habit. 1.25mg of Proscar and 500mcg of Avodart per day. Avodart in the morning on an empty stomach and Proscar at night with Oral Loniten

@BaldingHelpMe I've been on Proscar 1.25mg every day since i was 18. It thickened my hair to a noticeable extent, particularly at the the thinning crown which is now nonexistent thanks to it. It also gave me some semi thick hairs on my temples. I added Avodart once a week for a while which did nothing and then i upped the dose to once per day which gave me slight thickening beyond the finasteride improvement. I have a few things in my regime including minoxidil so it's hard to say what caused what results. But i was on finasteride alone for that first year so it works for sure. Goals would be to trial Avodart at 2.5mg per day but im a poor student and packs of 30 pills from pharmacies in australia cost $25

Yes - there is evidence that finasteride becomes less effective when used for an extended period of time. Studies have shown that rotating with dutasteride seems to overcome that problem.
