Very curious to know approximately what percentage of men in the western world are on the drug.
I doubt that there's much credible information out there that could shed light on this. Drug companies can bloat the numbers in order to make it seem like their drug is taken by large amounts of men, and in turn making other men feel more comfortable about taking it. Also, surveys would be pretty inaccurate because there are so men out there that would feel ashamed to openly admit taking the drug because it almost feels like there's a stigma attached to hair loss meds. Taking hair loss meds can really only mean one thing, you're balding. So if your hair loss is minimal and you're really the only person that notices it, and you admit to taking hair loss meds, you're essentially outing yourself as a man that's balding. Even if you're not bald yet, you'll be in for a lot of "soon to be bald" or thinning hair jokes.
For instance, if a man openly admits to using such treatments, younger men in particular, some out there would feel -- for some odd reason -- as if he's cheating nature. Maybe not on the level of a baseball player using steroids, but I feel like there is some that would shame those that take hair loss meds -- including other men. That is especially weird considering the number of men suffering from hair loss. It could just be me, but the only people that know I'm on hair loss meds are myself and my mom. All my close male friends, save for one who's got a chiseled jaw and model like cheekbones to make up for his receding hairline, are NW1 or 2, so none of them would really understand. I would never openly admit to taking hair loss meds, nor can I imagine any of you out there are exactly making Facebook posts about starting Propecia.
Yup. The only people that know I am treating my hair loss are you guys and my girlfriend.
I'm pretty open about it. I mean obviously I don't tell every person I meet but I don't hide it either. If chicks can shove plastic into their chest I can pop a pill lol.
Sorry, when you said, shove plastic, I had something else on my mind. lol
That's cool. If I was lucky to get regrowth and somebody wanted to know what was going on, I would tell them. But I pretty much keep it on the down low.
