Is the Hairmax laser comb better than rest?

Do guys think it's worth going with the cheaper models? Hairmax is the one getting all the press, and I wonder if their product is really any different compared to these cheaper alternatives. Their unit costs $545, and it looks like you can get something for way less. I just wonder if they meet the same quality guidelines, etc.

From what i've read it looks like hiarmax is the only one with the exact laser frequency and their laser is unique. But do your own research I guess. I'm still not 100% sure but if i go with a Laser I'm getting the Lasercomb. Knowing that I'm getting the real deal 100% than questioning how legit the other comb is.

hairmax is using a single 29mw 660nm laser diodes which it split into 8part with a piece of plastic with shiny paint. one beam is about 3.6mw provided there is no lost which is not possible and also each beam will not be the same strength.

from this, you can get cheaper comb. as long as the wavelength is around 630-670nm with power around 3-5mw, most likely it does the same thing. you are getting laser and not hairmax. infact, other lasercomb which use multiple laser diodes should be better with no loss of power.

Interesting. I found this comb which has 9 650nm/5mw lasers.....for only $80. :freaked:

The price is a far cry from the $545 Hairmax charges, and it seems like they should do the same job......

The company is called HairMax, so it's got to work. It doesn't make any sense that it'd be called HairMax if the comb didn't grow maximum hair.

It's actually now FDA approved. They actually claim that hair grows. I'm definitely going to consider buying one.

There was an entire segment for hairloss on The Big Idea last night on CNBC. Of course, they talked about everything we already knew...

We don't know exactly what it is approved for yet.

I want to see hair weights and hair counts.

You can see the FDA press release at the Hairmax website.

As for hair counts, they say:

"the FDA said HairMax LaserComb had an increase in the number of terminal (thick) hairs. The average number of terminal hairs per square centimeter increased by 19 hairs/cm² over a six-month period. "

This was also said last night on CNBC.

Not enough information yet. I have read everything I can.

I;m not being negative, I just want to see more.

Laser therapy works pretty good ,I bought a Cheaper version couple years ago @ Laserwands.com Hair got a lot better but when I used with rogaine things seemed to get even better. I still use every week and still happy but it not a stand alone treatment for some of us.

There was a guy who made his own lasercomb at the HLH website. He based it off the patent info from the $600 laser comb and used diodes that were very close if not exact to the ones the laser comb uses.

Towards the end of that thread he questioned his distance of the diode from the scalp.

I think I would rather get $30 worth of parts and give it a shot, than spend the $600 on it. I know probably gobs of science went into every aspect of the laser comb and if you can financially afford $600 without jeopardizing your family at the expense of potential hair growth than I'd buy one too, but can't afford that much to spend. If you wait for capitalism to work its magic and get more competitors involved in this market than prices will inevitably come down on a "professional" comb.
