Early 20s balding. Probably sped up cause of stress...

was taking finasteride 1mg for 6month or so quit cause of sides...

Some side effects are persistent close to 2 years since finasteride last taken...

Norwood 1.5 at worst. Indeed does seem to be some thinning, perhaps. Unless you just have very fine hair, idk. Cutting it short 2-4 inches helps. Sucks Finasteride isnt an option.

Not even close to NW2. But yeah either your hair is very fine or it really is diffuse thinning.

Thanks for reply.

To be honest i feel like i may be able to tolerate finasteride. The thing is-i was depressed and had some health issues when i was taking it, so it definitely contributed to it...

But to be completely honest I don’t really want to take this drug anymore. Not all the sides are gone still, and it’s been a very long time since i took last pill. And the sides are unpleasant.

But check this out, those are photos from my last thread almost two years ago.
I started taking finsateride soon after those photos were posted, and quit fina about 6 month after use. So for the most of that time i wasn’t affected by dht-inhibitors.

Do you think my baldness progressed in these 2 years.

Here is direct comparison of two pics with part in the middle.

1st pic-yesterday
2nd pic- two years ago.

Obviously first pic is close up and better quality, but i think professional Norwood spotters can still tell..

that doesnt look like severe diffuse thinning

you still have a very defined hair line

and females have that hair parting as well. you can use hair fibers to cover it up if it bothers you

If finasteride is such a hassle, I wouldn’t bother with it. In my opinion its really important if you want to keep your hair but if it messes with you in the slightest - it’s not worth it as you have to take it forever so being messed with (even at the slightest) forever is not worth it imo.

On the note of your hair, I would say it hasn’t gotten worse and if it has - not by much. The thing is you can’t really tell from pics. Your density could fall from 80/cm^2 to 60/cm^2 and you wouldn’t notice in pics but surely 80 to 60 is a 25% decrease. You get what Im saying?

If it feels thinner (cant style the same, feels flatter) it most likely is and you wouldn’t know when or if it will stop, this is why finasteride is a miracle drug. Anyway, best of luck, your hair for the most part looks good.

It’s not that different man. You used a narrower comb in the recent picture which may have made it look a little thinner because your hair is very fine. This kind of part is really common with men and women who have fine hair but aren’t losing it.

Fine hair is a b**ch. Especially dark fine hair as your scalp will stand out much easier. Use some dry shampoo and it will help a lot both in making it more manageable and with volume. Too much conditioner will make it look like that, too much oil make it look even worse f*****g terrible, the longer the hair is the less room there is for error. More length means more it weight, more oil, and greater chance it sticks together resulting in what your picture shows or worse...

You could be diffusing, but it’s hard to say. Absent other symptoms though, I’m inclined to think it’s just the way your hair is.

Thanks a lot for reply!

Yeah, i agree with everything you said regarding finasteride. It messed with me when i was taking it and some symptoms are still persistent till this day. I’ve taken it for 6 months and it became unbearable. Can’t imagine a situation where i would long term compromise my mental and physical health for the sake of purely cosmetical thing.

Regarding hair i feel it was always very fine, i would get comments that my scalp shows too much even when i was 15-16. I think i diffuse too, but very gradually...

Anyway I don’t think I’ll be taking any AA’s anymore, cause it simply disrupts my daily life. Feel glad that some people are able to maintain hair on it with minimal sides..

But with the right hair-do only Norwood spotters would really notice something. Otherwise, most people don’t see/care.

So i guess I’ll take the natural route and I’ll see how my genetics will play out.

Thanks everyone for responses!

Completely agree with you man.

My hair used to be down to my waist and looked way thinner then after i cut it.

Thanks for advises, I’ll focus on properly styling my hair.
