Is Rogaine right for me?

I have male pattern baldness and I've started taking finasteride about 3 months ago and it stopped the hair loss. When I look at the cover of Rogaine, it says to only take it if you lose hair in vertex, but from what I've seen online, almost everyone seems to use it (hair loss on top, midscalp, etc.)

I've attached picture of my scalp, please let me know if it's right for me. Thanks!

I would recommend to give Finasteride a little more time and wait if you can get regrowth on that treatment alone, probably like 4-6 more months. If you're not satisfied with hair growth by then, you can add Minoxidil into your regimen for potential regrowth.

It's stated by the manufacturers of Minoxidil that the medication can only be applied to the vertex of the scalp because that's how the clinical trials were done and can only legally claim the treatment will just specifically work in that area. You can apply Minoxidil all over on the top of the scalp including the hairline, not only the vertex, the medication will stimulate hair growth applied anywhere on the skin as long as hair follicles are present.

I apply Minoxidil twice daily in a Norwood 6 pattern since that's how I'm thinning and the medication does work allover the top of my scalp. In general, simply apply Minoxidil to the areas that are balding.

Thanks for the replay! I thought Finasteride was only to stop hair loss ? I already have a 3 pack of liquid Rogaine, is your feedback based on avoiding possible side effects of Minoxidil or economics, or both?

Again, Thank you for the help!

Finasteride is to stop hair loss and is the current #1 treatment to do so. Minoxidil is usually considered to be the secondary treatment since it does not address the cause of balding which is DHT and is mainly used topically to promote hair regrowth.

As I previously posted, I would give Finasteride a little more time to take note on how well your hair loss stabilizes on the medication and how much regrowth can occur. If you're not satisfied with hair growth, then you can try adding Minoxidil into your regimen to kickstart any potential regrowth.
