Hi, this is my first post besides my intro post, which can be found at the link below, for background info.

What I haven't seen on the forum anywhere is Nioxin. I don't expect it to be great, the only recommendations I've gotten for it were from a store clerk at Wal-mart, and from what I've found online. One source that seems valid sounds like it stimulates circulation on the scalp, which may produce hair growth if that is one of the issues. Another source which seemed questionable suggested that one of the ingredients works by inhibiting DHT at the scalp.

Has anyone tried it? Anyone know for sure what it does?

I got the whole kit with the shampoo and the spray and all that crap and I used half a bottle and threw it away. It made my hair feel awful, and from everything I've read it has nothing in it that will actually do anything for helping thinning hair.

Right now I'm using American Crew and I like it a lot, and I also have started using Nizoral.

I wouldn't recommend Nioxin at all, especially with how expensive it is. I wouldn't recommend it if it was 5 bucks either actually.

It won't grow any hair, but it makes the hair that you "look" better.

I used the whole system for a while, but I now use Aveda for my daily shampoo, and conditioner. I still use the Nioxin conditioner after my nizoral applications, though (I think it's the cooling sensation that makes me like it :p).

One product of theirs that I really do like is the scalp treatment foam. SPF 15, and it doesn't leave my hair greasy like their root lifter spray does.
