Im am 22 and have been aggressive recession at the temples the last year or so, and I don't want to use propecia just yet. I just started taking Biotin, Saw Palmetto, Zinc. As well as using Nizoral shampoo (1%) and using rogaine.. is this effective enough to halt recession/regrow some hair without using propecia?

Using Nizoral is good for helping to keep the scalp healthy and Rogaine is good for regrowth. Unfortunately, those two treatments are too weak to halt the recession, you'll really need to get on Dutasteride or Finasteride for that. Also taking Biotin, Saw Palmetto, and Zinc won't do anything to help hair loss. If you want to have an effective regiment, continue with Nizoral and Rogaine, and add one of the two 5-AR inhibitors that I mentioned.

As the above poster said. You need to focus on stopping dht from causing the balding process. Your stated regiment isn't going to be effective enough.

Rogaine or Nizoral doesn't stop hair loss . Saw palmetto doesn't work either . Your wasting money on rogaine if you don't use in conjunction with an anti androgen

You gotta stop male pattern baldness at the source, none of those work to block DHT besides saw palmetto, and I think that doesn't help much either. And you could potentially risk the same side effects of propecia from using that, without any of the benefits of it. Dunno if I've read any story about saw palmetto working for hair loss, but maybe someone can chime in if it helped them.
