Hi all, I'm new here so forgive me if I break any established rules or customs in this thread or something.
Of course I came here because I'm ready to find the answer to that age old question of "am I going bald" and to determine what to do about it. I think I know the answer at this point, but maybe there's 1% chance I'm fine.
I'm 23, and never worried much about hair loss just based on a pretty good family history of full hair, but I started to notice that my temple hair was feeling a little thin. I thought I had more time to do something about this, but these camera pics I took with a flash scared the piss out of me. I thought it might just have been a slightly receding hairline but then this cowlick thing on top of my head started looking like a bald spot to me (as a disclaimer I've always had a pretty bad cowlick, so I'm not totally sure on this one).
I've always worn my hair long, so I really can't make any judgements regarding how thick my hair used to be or where my hairline used to be. I just don't understand how it got this bad without me or anyone else noticing.
I always took it for granted that I wouldn't go bald since my parents and grandparents all had great heads of hair, so I'd be lying if I said this wasn't agonizing for me right now. Every one I ask keeps telling me I'm not losing my hair, but that just makes me think they don't know what hair loss looks like. If I'd listened to them I'd probably look like Phil Collins before I realized something was amiss.
Thanks in advance, though admittedly I'm kind of hoping I get hit by a car before someone answers this thread.
