Hi! Wondering if anyone has experienced/knows anyone who has experienced a similar pattern hair loss to my own (see images).

Hair Loss Details/Attempted Treatments:

-Started approximately 1-year ago

-Rapid loss, a year ago I had a full head of hair and naturally quite thick hair, no recession whatsoever

-Been to a physician for blood work, everything is fine, thyroid, iron etc. (issues run in family), was told to visit a derm

-1st Dermatologist looked at it for about 10 seconds and said male pattern baldness, offered me propecia, I was scared etc so I accepted. Took propecia for 1-month in combination with rogaine for about 1-week. Quit rogaine when I read some side-effects/realized it'd be for the rest of my life (was 20 at the time). Quit propecia when I read about essentially what it did, would rather not be balding, but would rather not mess with my endocrine system for the sake of my own vanity

-Didnt notice any shedding until beginning propecia, then I began to shed quite badly. Also, had some gynecomastia maybe 2-months after ending propecia, again, I am convinced messing with your endocrine system is a bad idea despite FDA approval (IMO). Gynecomastia eventually went away and shedding slowed several months after quitting

-2nd Dermatologist (Different guy) gave me an entire 5-minute appointment, looked at it, didnt give me a straight answer as to whats up, but suggested it might be sebborhic dermatitis, prescriped keta and clobetasol proprionate shampoo for once a week use on both. I think it made my hair loss worse, honestly. Stopped about 4-5 weeks into use, was told it was short term anyways (Derm told me to stop around 5 or 6 weeks with my own discretion). Was told no follow up needed.

-I do have an oily scalp with some dandruff (this is new, happened when my hair loss started) and now I use head & shoulders every other day to control, helps with itch too (also new, started with hair loss)

-Recently, shaved my head down no guard impulsively (Ive always had about 7/8-inch long hair) and as its been growing out, Ive really realized how weird my loss is. I currently cant tell if I shed, but I wasnt shedding abnormally before the shave, it seemed the loss had slown down.

Details About Me:

-When my loss started, it was the beginning of my second semester at a new university where I lived way from home, I used to commute to school. The first semester was quite stressful (bad roommates, not used to work-school-social balance yet) but I am a very stressed out person in general

-Loss began at 20, currently 21

-Healthy, I workout about 4-5 times a week (weight training, cardio and yoga, take a multi vitamin/fish oil and log my meals so I know I am eating balanced (again, blood tests showed no deficiencies)

-Father is 60 with an NW0 (no loss or recession whatsoever), Mother is 61 and recently has had what looks like FPB, but its been working slowly over the past 4 years or so, its not bad at all, thinner, but not abnormal for her age

-Everyone else in close-ish family (uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents etc) has not dealt with hair loss until around 50, and it is more typical male pattern baldness pattern, if they experienced it at all

In my opinion it's male pattern baldness no doubt...
You might have caught it earlier than I did..
Best tx options are the big 3 no doubt: finasteride, minoxidil, nizoral. You might recover most of your losses.
The shedding with propecia and minoxidil is normal, it's the vellus hairs being replaced by new thicker hairs = regrowth.
Treat it now or you'll regret it later in life.
I am now on finasteride, niZoral, minoxidil and also duta and stopped my hairloss and achieve some regrowth, going for a transplant soon.
If you don't treat it I believe your final pattern will be full NW6 or even NW7 in 4-5 years or less.
All the best

How much duta do you take alongside finasteride?
