Is my hair loss agressive? Turning 20 on October 11th

I started noticing my hair loss at my temples at age 15, honestly I didn't even connect it to male pattern baldness. A year later I noticed my hairline appeared a little bit high but not alarming so after I found out about maturing hair lines. I did luckily take pictures at that time and several throughout the years as I slowly accepted I was losing my hair. A month ago I decided to do something about, so I did research and thought the big three would be my best option. I am aware that some hair loss is so aggressive that Finasteride can only slow down it a bit, considering I started likely losing hair at 13 or 14 I might be one of those people. I would like some of you who are more versed with hair loss to give me your opinion.

The first two were taken in early 2012 and the last four were taken within the last 2 weeks. I would like to apologize for exposing even a small amount of my unappealing torso.

I would say a NW2.5, a little bit beyond a mature hairline. I don't think it is aggressive IMO; we have seen guys here with NW5 at 18 years old. I think finasteride should keep your hair for many years

I'd say thinning temples NW2. But if the thinning hair goes it'l be 2.5.

finasteride should let you keep a good head of hair for many years.

Although, you might not go fully bald anyway - nobody really knows the end point. Look at your male relatives and check their situation.

20 years old or 40?!

He doesn't look 40 at all - stop exaggerating.

He just has that dorky introverted young guy look.

Don't take that offensively op - alot of guys go through that, cut your hair short, get some treatment for your acne, some contacts and you'll be fine.

It's a part of growing up.

The way you wrote that made me think you misunderstood the question. The first two pictures were in early 2012 and the last four are now. You probably didn't misunderstand the question, but might as well check.

To be more specific, I'd say your hairloss is moderate. Not light but not heavy/worst.

As I said, you're a thinning temples NW2-2.5 ish?

The way you wrote it made me think you thought the first two pictures were now. I guess because In those pictures I was a Norwood 2 and now I assume I'm a Norwood 2.5.

Your doing the right regimen, except for Nizerol. That's an anti fungal/dandruff medication, and you are taking the prescribed amount (2%), which you have been taking for quite a while. I would consider dropping that. To be perfectly honest, I think for your case, without medication, your balding would be very aggressive. Your medication has probably slowed it to the extent your not a Norwood 4, but a Norwood 2. Are you getting your Propecia locally, from a script? These days, it's really hard to know what your really getting.
I have only been treating my hair loss for a month. I have a prescription, and I get it from a local pharmacy.

That guy actually made me laugh, although it still did sting a bit. I thought your description of me was pretty funny, because of course it's accurate. In the first two pictures I was 16 and hadn't grown out of my acne problems yet. I do plan on keeping my glasses for the rest of my life. It might be because my vision is barely good enough to wear contacts, but I couldn't see as well when I wore contacts.

hop on finasteride and you'll be fine for the years to come and then hopefully new technologies will have emerged to fixed the damage already done.

Whats your dads hair like?

My father is 50 and I would say he is Norwood 3, I don't think he started losing hair until he was in his late 30s. My mothers father is like a Norwood 5, He also didn't start until he was in his late 30s. The only person in my family who lost all of their hair was my great grandfather.

Waterloosun, grow an afro. Unless you work in an environment you would get fired, do it now, why you still have time... I grew my hair long in my twenties (really long, everybody gave me crap about it, so I grew it longer). When everybody stopped caring about it, I cut it short. (After a mullet, and realizing how dumb it looked (not that your's does, mine did though), I got it cut short. Recently I got a long buzz cut, but it looked good. You never know. Experiment, while you still can. I just went to the barber two weeks ago, said cut it all one length. And he did. But you have to do what's right for you.
Yeah those days are over, I used to have curls in my hair. These days I just kind of have wavy flat hair, it is the most noticeable part of my hair loss. I haven't had a haircut in over a year and it seems to be getting shorter. I will even let you see my once glorious hair and what it has become.

Is that an older picture? Your hair texture really hasn't changed that much, comparing that with your newer photos. Even with hair loss, I think hair texture remains relatively the same after puberty. Hair growth is really individual, for both men and women. Really, don't cut it because people are telling you to do it. If you want to, then do it by all means.

Yes, the first photo is from about 3 years ago. Well I am pretty much the only person in my life to ever think my hair looks good, so I don't cut it.

Norwood 3 is good. You really can't tell. I have a friend who is Norwood .5 (< 1). He's in his 50s. His mother's side, there all Norwood 7. His dad has a full set of hair (81). My dad was a Norwood 4.5, maybe 5 in his forties. He didn't use anything (there really was nothing to use in those days). I'm a NW3, but that's only because of meds. My mom's side, dad was Norwood 7 (my dad was a NW7 later on in life).

When I told him to get it cut short I never meant a buzzcut btw. Just like a fashionable cut - less dorky shag and more pinache. I had horrible long justin beiber style hair from 14-17 - why nobody told me I looked like a little twat is beyond me. Genuinely embarrassed to this day lol.
