Is My Density Enough To Grow Out Hair?

hi guys,

I had hair transplant a year ago and I need to grow my hair out to cover my fur scar. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s dense enough (at least in the growing out phase). I always end up buzzing again bcs it’s so springy and fuzzy.

Picture below is 8month post transplant. Can I grow my hair out and have enough density to style it (without looking like a thinning combover?) thanks!

what were you before a 5/6 and how many grafts did you get?

your not using regaine or anything are you... would be ideal as you have it shaved to help grow those thinning strands

Geez,

looks good, i cant comprehend going through all that and then keeping it buzzed

At the very least I'd grow it out and consider pigmentation

You've got this thing beat, even just one more procedure and you are NO LONGER BALD.

Damn.

Thanks guys

I had 4k graft fue 3yrs ago and another 4K graft fut 1yr ago. I’m a nw6 (all hairs I did have fell off due to permanent shock loss). I’m diffused thinner so I’m screwed. Even my donor is thinning along with my sides. Not using any rogaine or anything atm. Picture above looks good bcs it’s dark, certain lighting it’s not as dense looking. My crown is also the thinnest part.

I did have smp just recently for density, picture above is with no smp. Below is with smp with about 2weeks of growing from complete shaved head.

Here’s pics of my donor before and after smp. Scar is still very noticeable in real life but not as bad as before smp.

Yea I’m at 2weeks now from complete shave. Smp helps a lot from keeping me looking like a diffused chia pet (cactus look). I’m hoping once I get length they’ll layer on top of each other giving a fuller look (slick back).

To be honest if I can go back I wouldn’t have done a transplant. I was 27 and naive. I was really looking for examples of guys that had thin buzz then grew them out so I can know what to expect.

beard + smp + fibers if needed

And the hairs from first transplant didn’t fall out, but my original thin hairs I did have did not survive from shock loss. They really were on their way out (27yrs old with a full out horseshoe).

All hairs on top of my head now are from transplant...unfortunately.

You mean grow out my beard? I actually look better with just a 5 o’clock shadow. I have a pretty good face and growing my not so thick beard just hides my features. I have great body, great face, good height, nice skin, but my damn balding head! It’s been a pretty depressing 3yrs.

Really hoping growing my hair out in a very long length can change my outlook (suprised I never even tried).

I went to a clinic in Turkey for my fue. I paid $1,100 for 4K grafts (which had great survival rate but I got bad cobblestoning). Very cheap and even included hotel for 2nights.

My FUT I went with Dr. Soni. He was a recommended dr in all forums. So he cost more. Unfortunately I was pretty pissed off at his clinic. I specifically told him fue before flying out to India and after sending him pics he agreed. As soon as I get there he pressures me into doing fut. He even stayed late at night to talk to me in how I’ll regret not going for his fut recommendation. Huge mistake on my part in agreeing.

I don’t think he’s good at fue (and survival rate of my fut wasn’t as good as my fue which was done by a bunch of techs). He even does a seminar for people looking for transplant and he basically bashes fue (I’m sitting there like wait, you’re supposed to give me an fue procedure in 8hrs).

do you have any pics before transplants?

I did on my old computer but that computer broke unfortunately.

But I pretty much had a very receded hairline (can fit entire hand plus 2 more fingers on my forehead) on top of very bad diffused thinning on top. All hairs were very wispy and thin. They all died out after the surgery as they’re very weak.

don't know much about this stuff, but the smp looks very good in that pic. If it looks like that in real life, nobody would notice the scar

Have you looked into a micro-pigmentation procedure at all? Works especially well if you're on the tanner/olive side.

So you have 8k grafts on top? Looks quite thin still. I think you have naturally slightly thick hair so maybe you can grow it out a bit no problem. It won't look like a normal full head though. Fcuk me, this all convinces me to jump on dutasteride as highlights how without native hair, it's going to be tough to look as good.

That’s right, and I agree it does look quite thin. The hairs are very thick individually which is why it looks bad with a buzz (cactus look).

The only way a hair transplant looks natural (or close to it) is if it’s grown out at least 3”. If you have native hair make sure it’s strong enough. I had a good amount of native hairs up top on surgery day, non survived

Couldn't agree more. Getting some length on top is critical or looks a bit like a surgical mess. Your scar is nice and cleaned up now mate.

Thanks bud

I also learned, that what you see in videos and pictures isn’t as good when seen in person. I can literally take pictures in natural lighting and Hair can look amazing. But in person not so much.

If anyone is considering a hair transplant I suggest you see an example in person (and I don’t mean look at a guy that was a nw3 who just had some fue to get just a tad bit more density/hair line lowering). I mean literally look at someone that was legit bald/balding who’s had a transplant done.

Well, I decided to buzz again with 0 guard. It just didn’t look right primarily bcs my crown has gone way too thin. It made me look older than I was with a thin semi combover look. Maybe if it was fully grown (6 month growth) it’d look good but school starts in two weeks and I can’t go in looking the way I did).

Buzz cut doesn’t look great, but at least I look my age. I’ll have to deal with my scar for the public to see. I’m just glad I did the smp, at the very least it makes my head look somewhat normal to most.

I’m so pissed I trusted Dr. Suneet Soni, that guy pushed so hard to do an fut after I told him twice I’m only interested in fue. how that guy is recommended in hair transplant forums i don’t know. If you’re considering doing a transplant stay away from that guy.
