Is my crown thinning?

I have been on proscar for 12 months now. I went on the meds mainly because my temples and frontal regions were starting to go. I am almost positive my crown did not look like this before. I woke up from a nap and snapped a shot, it may be a lil worse than it really is because I was sleeping on it. Any reason why my crown would start going? I thought finasteride was supposed to prevent or stop crown balding at least. BTW I am 22.

Are you Asian by any chance? I'm asking because your hair texture looks distinctly Asian. If you are then I wouldn't necessarily worry about it because a lot of Asians males have thin vertex spots and they aren't balding. If it is crown thinning then it's not very severe and it could just be the way your hair is lying. Get it checked out by a derm if you want. Or just comb the hair away from that spot to the best of your ability and then take pics.

Hey I'm chinese too and your crown looks good. Alot better than mine. But it may be the start of loss there. My crown also started to itch when it first started to thin.

i sit behind tons of asian kids in my classes and all asians have that appearance on their vertex. even the female asians. its not indicative of balding, someone posted a study that said asians just have less density on their vertex naturally..that said, why NOW did u just notice it if its always been like that?

I am pretty sure it's not natural its form male pattern baldness my vertex is going. I have been on proscar for 12 months so it obviously is not working for me. Is it time to move onto dust or just give up that I am not a responder?

Yes, dutasteride is your next option. Good Luck!
