I ve been on finasteride for 7 months now and while I have some slight regrowth in the form longer more dense fine hairs in the temple corner, 98% don't seem to grow any longer.

So is minoxidil mandatory for regrowth with finasteride? or is this simply the max extent to which finasteride will give me regrowth?

Max results from finasteride take around 2 years to see.

You may not regrow anything though, finasteride might just maintain what you have. I would stick it out until the 1 year mark before adding minoxidil.

Thanks for the advice.
I have had some regrowth. I have really short pigmented hairs that look like they may turn into real hair if they grew out but they haven't growth for a while.

Personally, if i was using finasteride, id add stemox and/or dermarolling+LiCl over minoxidil. Your minoxidil gains are gone the moment you stop putting that cream on your head.

Are you implying dermarolling gains are permanent even if one stops dermarolling?

I didn't say dermarolling. I said dermarolling+LiCl. There is a difference. Dermarolling on its own is probably useless.

Dermarolling with whatever is pretty useless unless you literally bleed the entire hairline which hurts like hell with a roller, needling much better.
