Hello, I have been looking around this forum for a couple of months now and wanted to get your guys’ opinions on if I should start microneedling to try to thicken up my thin crown/vertex. My hairline is not perfect either, but it’s not too bad and is easily covered by medium hair(prob NW2ish). My crown began to thin when I was around 15 years old and friends started pointing it out around 16. When I was 17 I got my male pattern baldness confirmed by a dermatologist and he suggested that I start using rogaine foam to maintain my hair the best I could before starting finasteride at 18. Now I am 21 and have been on rogaine foam for about 4.5 years and finasteride for 3.5 years. I do not think I am a responder to rogaine and I think finasteride is doing all the work in maintaining my hair, but I am scared to quit in case it helped with any maintenance.
First picture is without a flash in a random hallway at my school, next three are with a flash and last two are without a flash, but directly under bright light from my fan. All pictures were taken around 7 hours after a shower and applying rogaine foam so I believe they are fairly neutral in appearance relative to how it usually looks.
I'm most curious to try microneedling due to the studies that support its efficacy as well as the success shown by a few individuals on this forum and other forums, but I am certainly open to other options as well. I also plan to continue taking finasteride and min as well. Thank you for your time.
