Im 21,and im experiecing itchy scalp and hair loss.It started when i was 18,i get itchy sensation on scalp and every time if i slightly pull my hair in that area it easly falls out, sometimes even more than 3 hairs comes out.Its only happenening on top of my head but without receeding, only thinning. What pisses me off and confuses me is that my father does not experience male pattern baldness, his father has really thick and black hair.Ive seen pics of my grandfathers and great grandfathers of both family sides and none of them had male pattern baldness.Literally nobody in my family has no male pattern baldness, cousins, unlces and so on.Only both of my grandmas have experienced slight hair loss and mothers father has MINOR almost unnoticeable hair loss, but not a big deal he is 80 years old.Is there any other reason behind this besides male pattern baldness ? because it doesnt really make sense to me unless i carry the gene from my great 10x grandfathers lol thats stupid.

Here are some pictures.I lost like 30% of my hair thickness on top of my head i would say.I had really thick hair. This seems like Telogen Effluvium to me tbh or its male pattern baldness.Could it be caused by hypothyroidism ?

I don't think it's male pattern baldness because:
1: It's coming out in weird chunks that don't fit any pattern I've ever seen
2: You said hairs come right out if you pull on them.

The latter is a textbook symptom of Telogen Effluvium, but if it were Telogen Effluvium, you would likely see a universal loss of density. I think it's something else entirely. Maybe some kind of fungal infection.

Well its weird, the hair comes out easily when i pull it and the itchiness comes from the top, barely from the sides and back but it happenes,so i guess it has the typical balding pattern.Sometimes i can see smaller hairs as well but its also rare, they usually look healthy and thick with white bulb on it.3 years have passed till it started and i havent noticed any density improvements,as far as i know male pattern baldness is all about hair hair miniaturization,my fallen hairs seem to never grow back.Im curious if i can become bald if my grandmas experienced balding and males did not.

I'm honestly not sure if there's a connection between female balding and male balding in a family. I'd need to research it. It just doesn't look like a typical balding pattern to me. The itchiness and permanent loss could easily be from an infection. Did you ever see a doctor about it?

Hi guys. Can you help me ? I want to know whether I am going bald or not. I got a Buzzcut and i can see my crown under the light, meaning my hair density is low. However I havent noticed any major hairloss , even though I got a buzzcut because i could see my hair was damaged and I got a lil bit of dandruff for the first time in my life. Please help me clarify this

I think this might be lightning. Tilt your head so the side of your head is facing up toward the light and take a picture. It should look similarly transparent if I'm right.

Im curious why this looks as untypical male pattern baldness ? I haven't seen a doctor yet,but will soon.

So ifits telogen effluvium,i cant do nothing about it right ?
Other than waiting, I'm not sure. I had Telogen Effluvium, and mine started growing back in a little under six months. I've heard for some people it takes up to a year.
