Is just trying finasteride worth the risk?

I am thinking of doing a little Propecia, when I hit 18 to just see what it does and maybe maintain better hair for a few months longer. Starting to use it for a longer time is out of question for me: I just don't have the resources for the whole big 3 (and I'm completely quitting Regaine and Nizoral too).
The question is: am I taking a risk, if I'm using small dosages of finasteride for a few months and then quit? Is there a possibility for permanent effects on my health? Should I try Propecia or not?
Atm, I'm still using Nizoral and Regaine 5%, because I have done it for a year and half now already. It would be a pity to just steeply quit now without reaching something more precious.

as long as you've stopped developing, taking Propecia is fine. since you're still young you should ask your doctor to advise because adolescent men shouldn't take finasteride. Once you hit your twenties, taking Propecia should cause no problems except some possible temporary sides

20 is too late for me. Got nothing left to retain by then. 18 or never.
I hope I find a wise enough doctor. Do dermatologist know anything about the DHT and hormone stuff? Do they qualify?

Good luck with that.

MY experience with Derm. is that the many appointments and follow ups I have had is amazingly I have never been able to see one!!!!!! :sobbing:

What happens is the real doctor just runs the cancer stuff or big insurance money stuff and he puts his name out for suckers like me and you. So what you get for your money is a nurse practitioner or some cute girl with a stunning completion and gorgeous full head of hair who is a physicians assistant or just out of med. school and is interning or just passing through.

The big problem with that is they say little so you learn nothing (hell all doctors are that way too) and basically they even missed alerting me to my hair loss giving me a script for scalp oil to stop a small but mild case of scalp psoriasis. A year or more wasted and lots of money and time gone. Finally I went to the web and was able to diagnose my self here at this forum for free. Got on Propecia, a god send.

I hate to say it but thanks to the printing press and the internet you don't need a priest to enter heaven, and you don't need a doctor to save yourself or your hair. Just read read read study study.

You obviously feel very passionate about your hair so yes. I mean if you get sides that last longer than a month then get off it.
