I'm not too educated in hair loss but I would seriously have to say that it's just the way that your hair is parted in that area & no hair loss. What I understand is everyone shows some scalp in that area which is totally normal. Your hair looks very thick btw.

yea i know im trying to stay calm but 9 months on propecia and things dont seem to be slowing down thats why i was considering to switching because of everyone saying if by 9 months in your not seeing anything then its probably not working you get me?....my doctor looked at my hair and said he sees thinning on top and my hairline isnt moving back in the "mature hairline" way. Balding in my family no one has it thats what sucks....my brother mother and father and cousins all have there hair. At first i thought it was something else for that reason but they did a blood check and everything was normal......im 24 years old only on propecia just hit the 9 month mark.

Your hair is thick as f***. I'm not even sure you should be on any treatments.

Do you have pics from before you started?

if your doctor said your thinning on top then its likely your crown is thinning. I have sort of similar hair to yours, im the same age and propecia isnt doing too great for me either. My hairline is far worse than yours (NW3). If propecia isnt working then i dont see what good dutasteride will do since it works the same way but more effectively.

Its my strong OPINION

(but not proven, or substantiated, or probably not even agreed upon by others)

That taking finasteride, or dutasteride, when u have none or very little hairloss, will only accelerate it. beyond the intial shedding period i mean.

this is based on mine and others experiences.

I'd wait and see whether its male pattern baldness.

lots of people recede around 18-21, then stop and stay that way. Its scary, and forces ppl to take drugs which may be unneccessary.

Yea it just feels like a constant shed and they're long hairs..and ive read from others here too that they barely see any hairloss and when they take finasteride or dutasteride there hair falls out so quickly. Some say stick out and thats what i plan to do.
