Is It Worth Taking Finasteride If Your Destiny Is Nw7?

If you're going to hit NW7 (based on family history), will finasteride work in the long run? Or will it only gice you a couple of years?

Edit:

I'm a diffuse thinner and started losing my hair at 20, today I'm 24. Now I regret not taking finasteride back then. During this time I decided that I would wear a hair system when the time comes beacuse I was not satisfied with how my hair looked, Im kind of "all or nothing". But obviously I would prefer my own hair.
Now I'm considering to get on finasteride, but my problem is if there's a point in doing so. Beacuse if I do, I need a hair transplant otherwise I don't see the point. As I've been a "hat prisoner" for the last 2 years, with a head that probably most of you would have called a "full head". And if I get a hair transplant I need to make sure that finasteride stops the hair loss. If I take this route and the finasteride wont work my hair loss will be expoused to everyone around me and then a hair system is no longer an option. Also the time I would need to buy/adapt to a hair system wouldn't be possible when older. That time is now, while I'm able to be flexible, and leave the country for 6 months if i needed to.

This should be inte the "my story"-section.

Is this even a question? If you want any chance at stopping your hair loss, you need to take finasteride. If you respond well to it like >= to 90% of men do, you will stop your hair loss indefinitely. Most people on here are the minority who do not respond well to treatments, but take my word for it.

Definitely worth trying it, dude. If you're fine with waiting and losing it all before going for a hair system, then what do you have to lose by trying finasteride at a chance to keep your real hair? Worst case scenario you don't respond at all and continue to lose. There's always the possibility of sides, but for nearly every man they subside after stopping the drug. Something to think about, though.

br1 so you have just taken finsteride for all those years ? no sides ?

Yes. just finasteride. No sides that I can remember of..

But after my break and resume, I don't have as many morning woods, and libido is little off.. No performance problems, though.
And, when I quit finasteride, I remember my libido going through the roof, and the orgasms became so much better/stronger! But hair was going south big time. So, finasteride again..

i saw in your prevous post that you had high estradiol value . did you got puffy nipples because of propecia , i am reaaly worried that i am getting a gyno right now , because i have upped my dose to 5 mg ( because 1 mg wasnt enough to maintain my hairline).
You are also on minoxidil ? did it help your hairline ? Do you got uwanted body hair ?

I did a saliva test (those home kits), and after speaking with my family doctor, he said he doesn't recommend these kind of tests as their are famous for being unreliable and to give high estradiol, specially. He said if I want I can do a blood test and gave me a script for that.
I don't have any high estradiol symptoms, really.. Never had. But I am planning on getting the blood test next summer, after a year and a half back on finasteride. Just to see how things are. DHT will be included too.

I started using minoxidil on my temples, just after resuming finasteride (Feb this year). And last month I started applying it to my hairline too. Now, I am not sure if it's helping or making it worse (hairline).. I started to obsess about my hairline, and frontal part, thinking that minoxidil could ruin normal hair. Some days it looks/feels great. Last couple days, I feel it's terrible (could be the colder temperature? - in Canada)..

Anyways, since I never used minoxidil and I was just fine... I plan on quitting it. I am down to 1x a day now, and will do 3x week in 4 months, then I will quit and stick with finasteride only.

Ah, also using Nizoral 2x week, since Feb.

Thats the problem, I'm not fine with waiting until it all falls out. I'm not fine with anybody knowing about my hair loss.

no unwanted body hair?

Nope. I think finasteride got rid of all my body hair.. LOL..

Seriously, I have no chest/back body hair. Only a little on the arms, and somewhat normal in the legs. finasteride never let it fully develop. I now this, because when I did my 4month break, I noticed (after month 2) that my beard was getting insanely thick and would grow so fast! And I started growing body hair (chest).

It's all back to "normal" now.. O_0

but minoxidil didnt cause you more body hair or hairy hand?

I believe i got more hairs on my arms and beard, more on the beard. But I would say it is just some vellus, almost transparent little hairs.. Nothing noticeable ..
