Is It Possible For Hair Loss To Come To A Halt Or Does It Keep On Going Until Complete Baldness?

So I have recently noticed that my hair has thinned out a bit. When I was 16, my hair thickness was a 9 from a scale from 1-10 where 10 is very thick). Right now at the age of 26 my hair thickness is around a 7. My question is, since I have been losing hair, does this mean that I will continue losing hair until I go bald as in skin head or is it possible that the hair loss can stop or slow down?

It is unpredictable. You can go bald in a matter of a few years. You can have almost the same head of hair 10 years later. If you lost 2 points on density in 10 years, it would be expected you would fall from 7 to 4-5 in another 10 years but this is just a guess, you can never know.
Check your family history of balding as it might give you a clue on how you will bald further. It is always better to prevent hair loss with treatments early enough if you really care about your hair.

Yeah it is unpredictable. I am diffuse and its like having the sword of Damocles hanging over your head at all times. Constantly checking for worsening, endless scrutinizing. Try propecia but there's no guarantee that will help either. Hair loss = drastic reduction in your quality of life.

My dad has only started thinning like 10 years ago (he is 58) and similar with all my 4 uncles (they still all have thick hair). My brother is 28 and has really thick hair. From my mum's side she has no brothers. Both my grandfathers started thinning quite late in their lives so i am really not sure why I am the only one who has been thinning since I was 16.

In addition to that I have always had a bad hairline and thin hair at the crown since I was a young 15/16. I have been using Regaine for 4 years now on the crown and the temples area and I plan to start Propecia in the next month or so. Can Propecia make me regrow some of the thickness back?

indeed. it could get worse but it could also stabilize and stay the same, which wouldn't be the end of the world. time will tell.

Unpredictable but possible. My grandfather diffuse thinned a little in his 40's but kept the remaining hair into his 80's.
