I started applying it to new areas and now I see a lot of thinning. I'm wondering if its likely the medicine or not.

Yes, there is a whole subforum dedicated to shedding.
no, I mean A LOT of shedding. I would think this would cause zt least some shedding, but to this degree, its maddening. Part of me is freaking out thinking its going to be permanent and the drug isn't doing angthing for me.

edit I'm also using nizoral and nioxin

I also used propecia for a couple of months and stopped. My guess is tgatcan account for massive shedds as well?

I ask this because sometimes nizoral can cause a shed too. If you started both at the same time that could exacerbate it.

One listed side effect of Rogaine/Regaine is hair loss.

They apparently never guarantee it will grow back either.

It's probably just a shed to be fair.

If you stop a treatment, it is quite likely that you will experience a sudden dramatic shed. Besides that, minoxidil can really cause temporary hair loss (telogen effluvium), but it concerns the higher concentrations (10-15%). Basically, it is an indefinite shed, when the hair follicles are strongly overstimulated and enter the telogen phase on a mass scale. I thought that I was immune to shedding, because I had never experienced anything like that on 2% or 5% minoxidil, but my experience with 15% Xandrox Plus was really devastating. After a 13-months' ordeal, barely any hairs in my left temple have been left. They almost completely disappeared. I couldn't stand it, cut my hair short, and now I have been waiting, if they grow back. It is bizarre that in my right temple, where I applied it only on bald areas, I now experience an unprecedented regrowth. LOL

When did you start the nizoral?
late feb/early march. ive also started using nioxin, but the extra hairloss was evident before that. i was on propecia for a couple of months. the first two weeks iwas taking 1mg twice a day and then cut it down to 1 mg once a day. i stopped using propecia about 2 months or so ago. would propecia or nioxin cause shedding mostly concentrated in the male pattern baldness area or is that only rogaine? This is to ask if most of the shedding from propecia and nizoral are in the male pattern baldness areas and not just the same amount of shedding throughout the scalp?
