Is It Normal For Hair To Only Grow Up To An Inch In Affect Regions.

So Im balding in front of my head and mostly in the temple. I however think this is male pattern baldness ive been dealing it with since I was 18, Im now 21 and recently got on generic finasteride. However I've always noticed how other balding men seem to still be able to grow long hair in their affected regions. In my balding region my hair only grows to roughly a little of an inch in length. Before I was balding I had hair 8 inches long. My doctor didnt question I had male pattern baldness when I told him thats the reason why I wanted a prescription. And I can't find anything on the internet about this. Could this be something else or is it male pattern baldness and wishful thinking?

Yeah I have a patch of miniaturized hair in the front center of my hairline, and they only grow like 3 inches. Can grow the rest of my hair much longer, but they just stop at that length. They're also super crooked and wiry. Some of them have been there for over a year and just stay that length.

I suppose this is because the DHT is damaging the follicles and decreasing the lifespan of the hairs? So in theory Finasteride should recover their ability to grow assuming I respond well to the drug?

Yes, essentially. I don't understand why they grow to a certain length and just stay that length without falling out though. Seems unusual to me.
And finasteride usually just results in maintenance for most people. Some people who respond well do get regrowth. Miniaturized hairs turning terminal would be considered regrowth. I wouldn't expect it, but many people do get regrowth.

well this is how male pattern baldness works, reduces the growth cycle to the point the hair barely grows at all.
