Hey! I'm 20 years old male, in my 3rd semester of college. I study in a different city than my home, and have to make do with renting an apartment. My diet has been pretty horrible the last 3 years, with virtually no intake of veggies and vitamins. My hair was pretty thick and lush at the beginning of the college, but i noticed a bit of thinning a year in.
Now, about a year ago, I was under terrible stress for more than 3-4 months. I was depressed, but still eating somewhat healthy. I had to redo a college term, and was on a break for 5 months. The 5 months were pretty bad, and about 4-5 months from now, i started to notice hairfall. My hairline is intact, but my scalp is visible when i take a bath, or from the sides. My hair has grown pretty thin from all over my head, including the sides.
I should also note that I have been on acne medications since 11th grade, but they didn't do much good as my acne keeps repeating. Anyway, I visited the doctor who is treating my acne, and he thought it was male pattern baldness. Which is difficult to accept as nobody in my family has male pattern baldness. Even now, my grandfather has hair all over his hair, and the only reason it is somewhat thin is due to old age.
I felt super stressed, and took a second opinion. The other derm wasn't sure if it was male pattern baldness, but thought it had something to do with nutrition. Does anyone here have any idea what it could be? There are no bald patches at all, and even my hairline is intact. I'm barely 20, and freaking out over my hair. Both the derms did prescribe Minoxidil though, and I've been using it for 3 days now.
