When you havent started balding yet? I am 18 and have yet to start, but I would like to prevent it. Is starting Revita a smart or dumb move?

I think it's scary that you think about balding if it hasn't even started yet.

Well i saw scalp one day when my hair was wet, so i figured i started balding. So I spazzed out and got revita. Now when I posted pictures, I was told thats normal and its just a parting spot. and I have like a mini v/u at the middle of my hairline, but I realized my mom and sister has that too. Thus, I got revita. So thats why I am asking now..

From what I have heard Revita is quite strong. Use Nizoral maybe once a week instead.

I doubt using Revita few times a week is going to have any detrimental effects, may even have some positive effect in terms of preserving your hair with all the anti-DHT/inflammation substances in it.

I doubt that Revita would be able to do much to prevent the progression of the mighty male pattern baldness. It is just a shampoo, after all, although a nice one IMO.

Unfortunately, no. male pattern baldness is genetic and hormonally-dependent. You can't change your genetic destiny.

So basically I cant do anything beforehand other than start using propecia when I get some signs of balding?

if you are VERY certain you will start to bald eventually I would just start with a low dose of finasteride. Im talkin about if all male relatives and siblings are showing signs....you could jump on finasteride now.

contrary to what you will read here it is a very SAFE drug....in clinical testing men were taking up to 20mg with no adverse side effects.

You should come over to the side effects forum where I'm fighting a lone battle against people who believe that Merck falsified its trial data, or that Propecia causes penile shrinkage, or brain fog, or sundry other ailments.

Well my uncle has the exact same hairtype as me. Dry curly hair. hes 45 and he has no signs of balding. Everyone else has straight or wavy hair, which my dad has, but he didnt start until he was 40. My mom has perfect hair and shes 46, she won some award in our city for best hair. And my hair stylist told me I have the same hair texture everywhere, including my crown, so it is possible I wont be bald. I am still wondering though, What do i Do. I do shed quite a lot though, like 60-80 hairs per day. And I was told it was because I grow my hair so quickly that my old hair is getting pushed out. I need a haircut every 3 weeks or my hair goes crazy long, its medium to long right now. I dont know what to believe though

Also my moms cousin is almost completely bald and hes 26. Is it possible I could become like him?

You can inherit male pattern baldness from either side of your family. I have (had) really thick hair like my mother and maternal grandparents, but I started to bald about the same time as my thinner-haired father (late 20s). Propecia has stopped it at about NW2, for now. But don't go thinking that because you've got thick hair, you'll escape. That's what I used to think.

A certain 'friend' claims that they were "a lie" and that the evidence to reveal this lie cannot be unearthed because of a conspiracy between the drug companies and "the politicians". Sometimes I despair of this forum.
