Since people say finasteride and meds in general don't help much with the hairline and temples, is it really with the possibility of getting sides for a guy who is only experiencing frontal balding?

Finasteride can help with the hairline and temples, some people even get hair regrowth in those areas. Bottom line finasteride helps maintain the hair you have and some people get lucky and get regrowth. As for experiencing side effects can't really say if you will everyone reacts differently to prescriptions so people don't get side effects others do. The side effects are permanent and will go away if you choose to discontinue finasteride. Good luck.

I am mainly experiencing frontal recession but I decided to get on finasteride. finasteride helps the front and hairline but it depends from person to person. The thing with finasteride is it can't make your hair worse in the long run. Sure you will go through sheds, but it will get better by 12 months of being on treatment. I am currently a little over 1 month on finasteride and my hair has thinned in the front because of shedding but it should grow back to baseline or maybe even better than baseline in a year. Its up to you, finasteride is good for maintenance in long term users.

According to Dr.Bernstein it actually does work for frontal hair loss too but just not as good as on the vertex. If you're a NW3 then it's unlikely that you'll regrow everything just with finasteride. If you're a NW2-2.5 then chances are there. To me finasteride is acting like a hair thickening drug. Whatever baby hairs i gain with minoxidil is getting thick bcoz of finasteride. And also i'm losing just a few hairs in the shower. As 0-100realquick said finasteride is great for maintenance and that should be your highest expectation.

I guess this is good news. I m NW2 but all of the places where my hairs has receded still has all the thinner hair there, so I m hoping it will work to some degree.
