Hi guys. A quick recap. I was thinning on my crown and receding last year (more on the right side). So i decided to jump on kirkland 5% minoxidil. After about 5 months usage I was over the moon with the results to a point I actually kissed the bottle lol. My hair was so thick. After about month 7 my hair started to shed again. 8 months on my hair has been shedding all over. Looks even worse before I started minoxidl. I can see my crown again and the recession is worse on both sides now. So 2 months ago I seen a derm and they put me on 5mg finasteride. 1 tab to be cut into 4, so I'm consuming 1.25mg every day Monday - Saturday, and miss a sunday

So any who, I have been on finasteride just over 2 months now. Also still applying minoxidil twice daily. The shedding is still happening. Scalp itch and tingling and it isn't letting up. I also havent noticed any miniturised hairs on my hairline or any part of my head.

So my question is, is it not working for me? Should I have seen some sort of progress in month 2?

I have read a few threads on here that say finasteride has made their hair loss alot worse, and its terrifying me :|
Thanks

You say that you take 1.25mg every 5-6 days? I am not an expert but I am pretty sure that you need to take it daily.

Even then I am pretty sure that the finasteride only keeps effectiveness when taken every day of the week.

Sure it's not a big deal if you forget it a day every now and then because it takes up to a week for the finasteride to completely leave your body but still, I wouldn't look further as to why you aren't getting anything out of finasteride if you don't take it daily.

On top of that, regrowth is a bonus as some people explained me. The main thing finasteride will do is to stop further hairloss but doesn't guarantee any new hair, so even without seeing new hair it doesn't mean that it isn't effective. You also need to take into account that it can take up to a year before seeing results and the final results only appear after 2 years.

Hope you have a good day and take my opinion with a grain of salt, I'm just someone who also deals with hairloss, by no mean am I knowledgeable :)

Most people need to combo the finasteride with Nizoral shampoo for the shed to stop, in fact it was the problem of the owner of this site.
Usually you apply this shampoo after you have wash your hair with regular one and then leave it on your scalp for 3-5 minutes, and you do it 2-3 times a week. :) Maybe this will help
