Is Finasteride Right For Me? Early Stage male pattern baldness

Hi, I'm 22 years old. First realized recession at top of forehead almost 2 years ago, was very minor, but I am now noticing more thinning at the top sides of my forehead. Saw a dermatologist last week and he said I have the signs of male pattern baldness. He thinks finasteride is best option for me. Do you all agree based off the pictures attached? Is my type of hair loss a good candidate for finasteride? Also what norwood scale would you say I am? Not sure if I'm 2 or 3. Thank you!

You can return to NW1 with finasteride.

Now you on transition to NW2.5 I think.

I have the same pattern of hairloss. I got on finasteride 4 months ago and I believe hair fall has reduced substantially. It's worth it. If you don't get on it you might lose more ground

Is minoxidil a better alternative for my situation? thought i read somewhere that it's not proven to work for receding hairlines, just crown loss

minoxidil won't do anything in the long run, it may help cover up the progression for a couple years but your hair will continue to be attached by DHT

The poster Ahmed has some serious hypochondriacal problems, he's fearing the crash that he never got. That alone speaks for itself.

Realistically finasteride would save you if you're a responder. Prob get those hairs thick enough to not see deeper into your hairline.

Speak to a doctor about finasteride and see what they tell you. I'm 5months in and feel like my hairloss has stopped. I'd imagine it would work great as you have a little more hair than me. You're on your way to nw2.5 and I am at Norwood 2.5 but a year older than you. Your loss will prob be aggressive if left untreated.

EXACTLY!!!!! thats how u fkn know. The crash feels like death, i wouldnt know. But from people who do suffer PFS there is no doubt in there mind that they have crashed. You're losing your mind over something that doesnt exist.

listen to me, this is the last time i will be responding to your silly posts.

You would know if you had pfs, if you're wondering if you crashed or not then NO you did not crash, you would 100% be sure you crashed. PFS FEELS like death based on what most propeciahelp writers write. No one has ever died from finasteride.

If you want to cure yourself, go jerk off, get off the forum go do whatever you did before you got introduced to HairLossTalk.com, then in a month report back and i PROMISE you, you will realize you never had a serious problem.

Update: Picked up prescription of generic finasteride on Friday, took 1/3 of 1mg pill every day starting Friday just to ease my body into it.

Only thing I'm noticing is left nipple tenderness and itchiness. Is this just hormonal adjustment or should I be worried that this could be a precursor to gyno? I'm wondering if this possibly psychosomatic given how early into my regimen I'm noticing this slight pain/tenderness/itchiness.
