Is baldness becoming more common?

I look at movies from the 50s and literally every single male actor is like a perfect Norwood 1. I know a lot of actors these days have fine hair too, but it doesn't seem as consistently of the perfect Norwood 1 level.

Was hair more of an import screening test back then or is there something about modern life making everyone balder?

Or is the balding gene so dominant that within a few generations it can produce this noticeable effect? If so, will everyone be bald in the future?

Cigarettes, hard alcohol, and hookers = Perfect NW1.

Actually I think a lot of actors back then were wearing hair pieces. I doubt there's been an increase in only a couple generations.

I've been wondering this recently. Wandering round over the past few days I've noticed a massive number of bald guys. I realise that I'm somewhat more suceptible to notice them now...but I'm positive that the numbers are growing!

Using old movies as a reference is'nt a good guide. Unfortunatley the only way you can tell would be to actually go back and have a look at the general population.
Certainly these days people are more likely to shave it off, possibly making them look like baldies.
