Is 2600 Grafts too much for my hairloss?

As my title states. I'm looking for opinions. I'm 22 years old and I've been contacting places as I'm looking to get FUE done. I've received a response from a doctor and I'm unsure if its okay to state his name. So if it is I'll state who is was. 2600 Grafts is what was recommended "We need this graft number because in the first frontline we will use only single and double grafts for natural looking and as your original hair is dense we need more graft number to achieve close density to your original one. We plan to implant 55 grafts per 1cm2 for your 45cm2 receding area." Now I'm mainly asking because 2600 grafts sounds like a lot and based on what I've read normally a donor area only has 3000-6000 grafts. This could be for FUT and I'm mistaken but was hoping for some feedback if this was a smart move to make.

Edit: I am on Finasteride already 6 months, 12 days. Minoxidil since December 21st. I should have put that in the post my bad.
I also don't plan on getting a hair transplant done till 1 year mark on finasteride possibly 1 year and 6 months.

You're too young for any hair transplant.

Srsly, "+finasteride"?
Why don't you just try finasteride solo for at least 6 months? I am almost sure hair transplant is needless in your current state.

Copying what I added up there to ensure people who just read the new posts reads this.

I'm just getting consults at the moment to get opinions on getting this done in the future. I want to at least fill in the temples, and I don't want lower my hairline at all which this picture seems to show lowering to some extent. A lot of the styles that I like to wear at a medium to long hair length require a filled in temple. But regardless I'm asking if 2600 grafts seems like 2 high of number for what I want. As I want to ensure that I don't waste my donor area so early on. I know some people are against getting a hair transplant at such a young age but I turn 23 in April and if I wait another year or so I can be nearing 24 or even wait till 24 before I get it done. My hair loss may not be at a horrible stage like some of the people that I see on here and I'll admit it. But it still bothers me as I receive comments from friends, family, and people from school.

grafts seems too high since you are still nw2
at nw2 I was able to convince myself I was just imagining my hairloss

Between 2250-2600 seems about right. I would be hesitant on the result if said anything lower then 2000.

I had my first transplant at 22. Had close to 2300 grafts put in for a NW2, and behind NW3 area as it was starting to thin. The whole frontal third, and forelock was reinforced.

Yes. But how'd you know?

Cause that is what he does. He opts for way higher graft counts to be in an extremely "safe" zone to create good results, kinda protecting himself that way. He does create good results though, but other docs can do that with way lower graft usage. Honestly for that hairline drawn 1.5k max 1750 grafts would be enough.

Why can't more docs go a little outside of the safe zone and take out 'way higher' graft counts? Wouldn't we get closer to 10,000 grafts available?

Sorry perhaps you misunderstood , koray likes to use many grafts to put himself in a safe position to protect himself from bad results. For instance Koray will propose 3500 grafts and a other one will be able to do it with 2-2.5k grafts and produce the same results. I don't know about average donor counts though this obviously varies from individual to individual, but I do know they need to hurry the hell up with doubling and actually work with some knowledgeable people on this subject. Not voodoo doctor Nigam.

Well I'm still waiting to hear from two more doctors to get their opinions. It just seems like 2,600 is a pretty high count for my degree. I was assuming it would be around the 1200-1500 range as I've seen photos of people worse off using like 4000 grafts and it covered all of the top of their head. I may be missing something like the density of the hair for the 4000 graft job. But I don't know much. You say he uses lots of grafts to put himself in a safe position but, I have to also think about the future. I appreciate the information on him. I may ask if he'd be willing to lower the graft count.

Lets put it this way;

If your hairline is 25cm long (a reasonable number), and you want to lower it by around 1cm (pretty typical) and fill in SOME of the corners then you are looking at 25cm2 plus corners, co lets say somewhere around 30cm2. The bare minimum of grafts you need is about 35/cm2 otherwise it will look THIN. So do some math:

30 x 35 = 1,050

There you have it. Anything more and its just going to be filler or additional density. You shouldn't go higher than 40-45 grafts /1cm2 though, you should reserve donor hair for future transplants should you be unlucky to have your balding continue (which most of the time balding guys do experience).

2,600 is too high for your needs... and NEEDS is the key word. You only have so many grafts to use... so use them wisely.
