Irritation with Minoxidil 10% when taking a shower

I am currently using minoxidil 10% twice a day. I put minoxidil in the morning and leave it for about 1-2 hours, before I go for my shower. However, I have noticed that as soon as I put water on my hair, there is a lot of irritation/itching on the head. I have kept extremely short hair at the moment, in order to maximise the benefit from minoxidil. The itching does go away, after I dry up my hair, other than some very mild itching that remains through the day.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
