Interesting How A Hole In Your Hair Can End Your Life

i had a life once. a desire to explore and experience things and meet people. now i'm just waiting around to die. the only thing that keeps me alive is residue from my past life, when i'm in nature and let my mind wander to the past, and feel the faintest hint of an emotion of contentedness or excitement that i used to feel. four years ago isn't that long but i can hardly remember who i was or what i felt like.

i'm only 28 and i have at least sixty more shitty years. might as well fight through the bad and appreciate the good until i return to the dirt, naked as i came in. can't wait for that day to come, when this identity no longer exists. no more hideous monster disfigured by hair loss.

hair loss history: thinned out very suddenly in late 2013 - early 2014, and just stopped there. no temple recession, just evenly spread diffuse thinning, which is always more noticeable on the crown as it's a naturally sparse spot even on full heads. i even look decent from the front, but one look at the back and it's game over. nobody wants to be with the guy with a bald, flat, dead crown. looks like i'm a f*****g grandpa. this life is done for me. i'll try again in the next existence.

the hair loss got just bad enough to turn me into an ugly beast, and the rest of my filaments remain, as if to taunt me. "i can ruin you without making you bald. enjoy the rat's nest." now i have the privilege of being humiliated by barbers every two weeks when i get my pile of fried straw trimmed down.

in terms of life quality there is no difference between nw1 with bald crown, and nw6. either way you're going to look like a piece of sh*t in 90% of the cases.

Shut up! Your bald spot is a joke. I'm 22 and mine is bigger.
Are you trolling?
Get on meds and get a transplant as others have suggested.

Such a drama queen. Take finasteride and get a small hair transplant. Thats literally all you have to do.

i was on finasteride for a year and it did nothing. i've been off it for a year and it did nothing.

meds are duds for me. i'm stuck in some kind of hair purgatory.

That's a very "unique" type of hair loss. At least i haven't seen many people like this, but i think you're over reacting about it. Yeah, i assume it sucks and ruins your confidence but as people before me wrote - it can be fixed with a surgery, surely. I wouldn't advice anyone to go under the knife but if it really affects your emotions this much, you should consider it. Wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide to do about it,

Man, sorry you are feeling that way. But for your own sake I have to say...like everyone else said, your problem can be fixed easily. A 500 graft (to be generous) FUE transplant and you are golden for life.

thanks for the support man. yes, avoiding surgery is indeed ideal. i just need to find out what the trigger of my hair loss is. it hasn't gotten any worse in about three years now, and i have not been on anti-androgens, and when i was, there was no change. stopped finasteride, still no change over a year later. so it's not dht. but nobody acknowledges when i say that. this forum is very robotic and for the most part i just get "use finasteride and minoxidil and shut up". i don't think i will find answers here.

I sympathize and relate to your post but yeah the actual "hole" is quite small. However, and not to alarm you, but the texture of your hair looks off to me. It looks quite similar to my own DHT ravaged hair. So maybe you are diffusing up top more than you know? To the untrained eye I have a lot of hair but its diffusing like a motherfuck. But yeah if you aren't diffusing or recessing I'm not sure why you are THIS upset. Granted ALL hairloss sucks but your hole can be fixed with the snap of your fingers.

I also feel I am not responding to finasteride fyi.

Are you on Minoxidil and Finasteride? I would get on them if I were you. And like others have said a small hair transplant could help to if you can save up for it. I also think that at this point it is small enough that you could get away with putting toppik on it.

yup the texture is totally fucked. loss of density tends to make it feel lifeless and limp. how long has your loss been going on? with our type of condition, people tend not to notice. which can be good and bad. my friends can't comprehend why i'm depressed and checked out of life because of "imaginary" hair loss, and the next conclusion is i have bdd.

i was on finasteride and minoxidil for about a year, nothing changed, and now i've been on literally nothing for the past year, and still nothing changed. this is a slight relief because it indicates that either it's not male pattern baldness, or if it was, it's not progressing (but i don't think that's how male pattern baldness works).

my gut feeling was always that it's some sort of cte. but i can't seem to find a solution.

The swirl is a follicle pit, it requires more due to the circular pattern and the docs generally don't like to touch that area due to shock loss as well. I would try minoxidil again with dermaroller, those small hairs will grow longer and thicker allowing for a comb over to cover the balding areas.
