Increased Testosterone. Problem?

Sorry if this is an old question, but, I am currently taking finasteride and have been for approx 7 months now. I'm quite sure that the hair loss has greatly reduced but no noticable growth of any sort as yet. I'm going to add Kirkland minoxidil to the mix now to see if this will help with some regrowth.

If my current regime tells me that its being effective by stopping the testosterone DHT thingy attacking my hair, would and increase in testosterone levels mean that the current balancing act would tip the other way and the hair loss would increase again?

I'm thinking of taking some vits to increase my energy levels and sex drive a bit, things such as Horny Goat weed, Ginko or similar. The up shot of these is increased testosterone levels. Would this push me back again or do you think the current partial success continue?

Thanks in advance

Hey Jonny,

Sounds like you have some maintenance working for you, but it's still early and regrowth could be round the corner. Adding minoxidil can spur some regrowth on, and works very well in synergy with finasteride, making it more effective.

Beware scalp irraitation though, minoxidil can cause this sometimes and it is counter productive. Use nizoral shampoo, and maybe drop down to once a day application of minoxidil if problems persist.

Some may disagree with this, but for ease of use, and still very good results, i'd only use minoxidil once a day, or use as directed for 12 months then drop to once a day.

Forgot to add, don't worry about increasing your testosterone too much, as long as you're not in the gym six hours a day lifting, you should be fine.

I personally recommend Maca, red maca powder or capsules are good, if not, normally maca will do fine....lots of B Vits, increase blood flow, and improvement in the libido department.

Thanks for the reply. I used to use minoxidil some years ago with no major problems, but i like the idea of only having to sue it once a day, it can be a pain in the *** and I keep my hair short, so it can look a little greasy just after you put the damn stuff on.

Regarding the testosternoe thing, I've recently had a vasectomy and I'm no 19 year old 4 times a day man, but I've noticed quite a drop in production down there and was looking at trying out one of the many "natural" volume increasers on the market, Semenax etc. The main claim being that testosterone and blood flow levels are increased etc, just didn't want to do something that would have a negative effect really.

thanks again in advance.

You sue it once a day? Doesn't your minoxidil get tired of all that litigation? :)

Sorry, didn't realise my typing skills had an effect on hair loss.
If so , perhaps everyone should add a spell checker to their regime!

Sorry to revive an old thread... but why is this?

Hi Props,

Been a way for a few weeks. I've not encountered anyone that has had any problems with red maca and propecia.

I found out about it on immortalhair's website, if you're still unsure go on there and ask. Some very knowledgeable posters on natural supps on there that can help you.
